HSBC sercure key fob

What is your fob like?

Mine is a business account and the fob isn't that big, just like a fairly normal keyring. It doesn't really cause me any problems having it on my keys. It certainly wouldn't fit in a card slot. Is the personal account one different?

It looks like this :

Could be tiny or the same size as a pocket calculator!

It's small, but if it's something they're expecting you to use all the time or carry around with you, I personally think it needs to be about as thin as a credit card rather than the odd proportions that it is. Such devices do exist, so they don't have that excuse.

You could try shopping around for some more compact wallets. Not all of them are bulky. I never used to use a wallet but i found i needed a new bank card every year as the chip and pin part got damaged.

The barclays online system is a lot less mobile than that

Although i understand it, but i hate it!!!

My last one's battery died, so i called up to ask for a new one and the guy said he would charge me!!!! I was like WTF? he then gave in a said i am been a long time customer and will send it to me for free....

HA! I'd have closed my account if they tried that. Cheeky sods.

Cheers for the pics. Mine ain't like that at all. Not as thin but much smaller. It just has one button to generate a random number each time you log in.

Just a tip, remember to move money from your savings account to your current account BEFORE you take a girl out on a date, then realise you don't have your sodding calculator of cockblock with you.

My HSBC one turned up while I was on holiday last week, I've not got round to setting it up yet so still undecided if this will be a pain in the arse.

Yep its mandatory so you have to use it otherwise they will cancel your online account (still have an account just not online) i think after when its all rolled out.

Kinda dont like it but i can see why they are doing it. Doesnt take that long to log in tbh just type ur answer and enter the code generated and ur in.

And personally if ur out and about i.e internet cafes and such then its a good idea to use the new device it will prevent public computers logging into ur hsbc account. Personally tho i would only online banking at home where it is more secure and safe to do than on public computers unless u can somehow do it on ur mobile phones these days in which case i duno just only check when ur in a secure location but mobile phone online banking seems a daft idea cos if ur logged in and someone nicks ur phone while ur doing it, then bye bye cash. :p

My Bank out here sends One Time Passwords to my mobile when I log in, it also sends me texts when I spend over a certain limit, works pretty well and is completely unobtrusive into my daily life, but thats about the only thing that is unobtrusive about my bank, now if you will excuse me I have to go and hope they are still open before they freeze my account as its been open for more than a year.

Do you actually need the calculator once a key has been generated? Just memorise the number?

I haven't fully check it out yet so I don't know.

No, it generates a new one each time.

The lloyds means putting your debit card and pin number in to give you the passkey.

Hmmm i still havent received mine even though a couple of months back they said they were going to send me one...mind you not that im fussed about it...just dont like the concept of carrying one around as i have my internet banking set up with a passcode easily remembered by me.
