Tour de France 2011

Team time trials are different from individual time trials tho. Having a very good time trialist like cancellara can actually be a disadvantage because he is so much stronger than the rest of the team that it disrupts their rythm. It's much more important to have a team of equal riders to do well in a ttt (HTC usually do very well and they dont really have any time trial specialists).

Good point, it's unfortunate for them they can't just tie a rope to cancellara's bike :D

A spectator standing in the road took out an Astana rider and the rest of peleton went ploughing into the crash, 50+ riders held up with 7km to go.

Stupid spectator

Alberto Contador was one of them and then got into a 2nd crash it seems. What a start for him. (Hehehehe.) But yes, some gormless spectator was looking the other way and got knocked into a ditch. Serves him/her right.

I've been glued to it since midday. Very gripping stage.

Good win for Gilbert.

Didn't realise Andy Schleck was in the front group - he's 1m14s up from Contador which could turn out to be vert important. Glad Geraint Thomas had a good ride as well

I wish they had a geek zone documentary talking about the bikes and the tech they are using. I understand why they don't but it would be interesting.

Bike Radar has reviews of a lot of the bikes they are using.

So that chap that was killed in Giro D'Italia, Wouter summat, would he have been in the Tour de France?

Andy Schleck and Wiggins missed the 1st crash but they were held up by the 2nd crash. They both finished some 1 min+ back but because the 2nd crash happened within 3km of the finish those riders get the same finish time as the group they were in before the crash (+6 sec) - lucky for them but unlucky for Conty :/

So does anything happen to that woman that caused the crash? Does she get fined or something for causing obstruction? :p I'd have her guts for garters if I was team boss.

hehe put me down for 10 of them!

Here you go

A Mark Cavendish Specialized McLaren Venge is easily over £10k
Most of the time trial bikes are over £10k also

The Venge

When I was in Sigma Sports having a fitting a guy turned up to inspect his Cervelo R5CA which had just been delivered. £7k for the frameset and total build cost was going to be £12.5k.

Insane.

Sub 700g framesets are just for marketing; the UCI set a minimum build limit of 6.8kg which means they have to put weights in the seat tube.
