Ebay fraud :(

try an find out approx when the postie will do his rounds
get there just prior, knock on the door and if the little **** is home explain that you're taking your property back
when the postie arrives call the police in front of the postie and suggest he simply returns to sender

Going to achieve? Stop the postie from giving the ipad to the scammer, ask him to return to sender.

A dispute? The guy is working with a stolen account, the funds probably come from a stolen paypal account too.

You would have to snatch it from the postman, the postmans job is to deliver the package to the addresee at the address. If the guy drove to the address then they could potentially be anyone, why would the postman give the package to him?

I agree that the postman probably won't help, and I suspect the police won't sit outside the address all day either waiting for the postman. If OP is there in person at least he would be able call the police and say ask them to attend as soon as the postman does arrive, or follow the recipient if he/she tries to leave with the parcel.

EDIT: hopefully though if the OP is contacting the police already, the police might do as suggested and apply for the RIPA, and maybe go to the property in hopes of an easy arrest.

I agree with you regarding the police but this is at best a misunderstanding on ebay's part and at worst fraud. Who knows how many other people may also be affected. A crime has been committed and as with all crimes the police should be the first port of call rather than taking the law in to your own hands.

Citizens arrest for fraud and obtaining goods by deception.

Lol! Oh wait you are actually serious arent you. Quick question that was maybe overlooked during your ridiculous suggestion: how do you know the person opening the door is the person who committed the fraud. Oh... You don't!

Maybe, just maybe, you didn't read my post closely enough ;)

Ebay = Sucks.

Never have and never will use them.
ive used it 300 times and never had a problem that was unsorted fairly

my dad has used it 1000s and only ever had one problem

all that sucks is the costs but then there is nowhere else at all where you can sell an item to such a large audience

I did, but the point stands. Why would the postman hold or return the package on the request of a random individual? That decision would need to be made higher up the food chain or by the police.

Because they implicated themselves after you took the parcel from them...

I phoned coventry police they told me to phone my local poloce I phoned my local police and thwy send theyll send someone round tomorrow night to talk to me, then they might talk with coventry police to see what they can do. My wife wont let me go to coventry :\ lol.

So you've informed the police that a crime has been committed or is in the process, you've let them know how they can prevent it and potentially catch the thieves and they tell you they'll come and chat to you about it hours after it's all happened over a nice cup of tea. Am i missing something simple here? (probably!)

There is no proof the address you've sent it to is complicit in the fraud. It could even be the original account holders address.

All paypal have told you is that the payment is fraudulent, i.e. unauthorised.

In a nutshell yes!

I did think about just swiping the package from the postie as he tries to deliver and runing off, but my wife said ill probably end up at the police station which is where id want to be, but that id probably end up in trouble.

Weve phoned paypal and they said we are completly covered.

Withdraw the money to your bank account immediately and and unlink your bank card and bank account from PayPal just in case things go bad. PayPal might be saying you're covered, but they might change their mind.

Let them be out of pocket, rather than you possibly being out of pocket.

It's all about confidence.

Go to the address, look like you belong there, act like the postie has just caught you about going into your house, have the keys out, just be seconds from pushing they key in and then turn around and go oh, and get ready to sign...

If you dont look suspicious and out of place then the person on minimum wage will never spot a thing !

What? It's not for you to decide who the postman delivers the parcel to. It's their job to deliver it to the address on the package, if they let random people intercept it then they wouldn't be doing their job correctly.

This won't make a slight bit of difference as PayPal will chase you for the debt.

Ebay is a great place to buy/sell games, chargers, mobile phone covers, spare batteries some cheap items made it china that cost 10 times more in a shop but very risky when it comes to some more expensive gadgets like iphones, mobile phones, laptops, ipads etc.

Anyway I hope you will get your ipad or money back.

if the house has a drive and no one is in park on it, make sure your shirt is not tucked it, stick a bit of shaving foam on your face (like you did not wash it off properly) knock up a utility bill thats address'd to that address with the supposed scammers name on.

when postie is near either try and blag him you jsut locked yourself out of the house offer the fake bill as proof you live there if requested - have it stuffed in the car some where...

though i assume the above ilegal and you can get done for it despite it being your ipad

Whats the address, I live in coventry...

edit sorry didnt read down far enough, foleshill, hmmmmm some dodgy people do live there thats for sure but its NOT the worst part of coventry.

Pay me and ill stalk the residents

What if the postman was the scammer? Think about it, they have access to all sorts of personal information including bank statements and credit card bills. Added bonus they can order something to go to your house and simply not deliver it, you would never know!
