Metal Gear Solid 4

It's a game that i love, immensely, but can't identifiy precisely WHY i love it. The gameplay was clunky, but there was something utterly addictive about it, particularly the multiplayer. The voice acting was awful, but it's an old franchise that's stayed true to its roots, from a time when good voice actors in video games were rare so it's had to keep them.

I guess it's just one of those games that's more than the sum of its parts.

The game is amazing no doubt about it, I also love the MGS games and this one lives up to the previous titles reputation.

EASY one of the best games on PS3 but the only thing I can moan about it.....no trophies :) Trophies do keep the game alive longer and give you new aims to reach etc so I would love to see them do a trophy pack for MGS4, as im sure most fans of the game would.....lets start a petition :)

Currently playing this myself after owning a PS3 for years. Originally got it my Dad for fathers day but it did his head in (prob cause he is in a rough place after nearly passing away twice in May, not the best time to be getting stressed haha he's 49 im 29 not that it matters). So am playing it now and it is a masterpeace pure and simple nothing I've played is like it and love the new approach thats been capable with the PS3 as oppose to the overhead views of the previous MSG titles lets hope MSG Rising is just as impressive although multiplatform may hinder production as ports here and there often cause misery on release days.

It's the only game that has ever been able to make me well up, the cut scenes are just the best of any game ever

brilliant game, loved it, although i still prefer 1 and 2.

I remember at the end of the vamp/raiden cutscene, my jaw was hanging off the ground, WOW.

Fantastic game, my favourite on the PS3! Such powerful cutscenes, especially when you've played from MGS on the psone all the way through to 4!

When I had my PS3 I pre ordered this just because there were no other good games coming out except of GTA4 and the disappointing Haze.

For some random coincidence I got chicken pox on the release date so I had a week off school. I completed it twice in that week, first on normal mode then hard mode. Loved the unlockables you can get on the next play through etc :) I think I got the Big Boss zombie head thing in the end and you could just run through the game :P

I loved it to bits the only other game that has become emotionally close is The Witcher 2. I am actually planning on buying another PS3 at the end of the year to play this again and to get Uncharted 3 of course :)

MGS4 is definitely a system seller, and still has some of the most outstanding GFX of any PS3 game out there.

The only thing more impressive than the technical accomplishment is the fact that Kojima proves he can go one up on the storyline of all previous MGSs in this final, unifying chapter (whether or not this is a good thing is arguable). Kudos to him, the developers, Konami and Sony.

Anyone else going to do an MGS marathon when the HD Collection gets released? I played through 1-4 back-to-back just over two years ago and it was fantastic, the storyline makes so much more sense when it's fresh in your mind. Looking forward to adding Peace Walker into the mix this time round.

Definitely planning on doing MGS2 and then MGS4 yeah. Dont think I'll bother with Peace Walker in the set though. Not sure where I'll fit Snake Eater in either

Yeah this and along with the MGS Database. Helps a lot with some of the finer details like the many character interactions/relationships or sub-plots as well.

I bought this game but traded it back in within a few days, the amount of cut scenes just really did my head in! I wanted to play the game not watch a movie!

MGS1 is my fave game - at the time is was amazing.
MGS2 - enjoyed.
MGS3 - OK, nothing special. I thought the games were starting to die on their a$$ at this point.

But from what people are saying, it looks like i will have to pick up MGS 4 soon!

You should try and make time for Snake Eater so you can better understand the cutscenes involving a certain someone at the end of MGS4. Unless you're already confident with the story. :)
