A friend and I are cycling from London to Southend on 17 July as part of the British Heart Foundation's annual event - a whopping odyssey of roughly 52 miles (depending on where you obtain your figures from)! :p

Although not the most impressive feat endured by any means, my friend and I have decided that we would still like to try and raise a small amount of money on behalf of our efforts to put towards a worthy cause.

As you're probably aware, individuals in the Horn of Africa - notably within Somalia, Kenya and Ethopia - are enduring one of their worst droughts in over 60 years.

Our humble aim is to raise ~£300 as part of the £150m East Africa Appeal which will be dontated via Oxfam. Although only nominal compared to the recent governmental pledge, my friend and I would really appreciate it if you could help us reach our target.

If you're interested and would like to donate to the East Africa Appeal, the sponsorship form can be found here.

Alternatively, if you would rather donate to the BHF, you can also do that here.

Thank you. :)

Thanks Thundy. :)

Let me know when you take your new toy out for a spin on one of these. I'll return the favour. :D

Really wish I could but I have about £1.16 to last me til the end of the month. Good luck though!

Good luck! I have done it the past 3 years and it's a nice run - just dont use a dual suspension bike!
The bit from Chigwell for the next 10 miles is the hardest part, after that its plain sailing. I'm going to do the London - Cambs this year for a change of scenery

Thanks again chaps. :)

Cheers sHo0sh. How's the traffic coming out of Victoria usually? It's going to be a new experience for me, never done a bike event before!

Probably around 8.30am ish. It's a Sunday though, so don't know if that counts for anything. Hoping that there'll be enough riders on the road though to make it a little easier.
