Best Tablet?

I'm after a tablet, it MUST have 3G as I'll want to use the internet features out and about.

I'd like a detachable keyboard, Andriod 3.0 and a 10" screen.

Personally I think the Asus Eee Pad Transformer is ideal apart from it doesn't have 3G :(

Anybody got any suggestions?

No budget set yet.

does the keyboard have to be detachable or will a bluetooth style keyboard be ok? if so that might open up your options a bit more :)

I wasn't aware they did bluetooth style keyboards for them.

That would be fine as long as it's easy to use.

The tablet will at home be used instead of a laptop (ie emailing, basic web browsing and watching tv shows) then out and about it will take a more professional role in terms of acting as my email client so I'm always in contact with clients and able to take notes, images, do quick web searches, demo stuff etc......

Android?
a 2nd hand iPad1 is nicer

Ipad2 is in budget but are there still shortages?

I wasn't aware you could get a keyboard for the Ipad2 and they are much more expensive than the Andriod 3.0 ones.

I use an Andriod phone, Google Calendar, Docs and email lots and like how it works.

Samsung have shown keyboard accessories for the Galaxy 10.1, and isn't there a 3G Asus Transformer that will be released later this year?

It is possible to use 3G on an Asus Transformer but you have to have a jailbroken iphone!

I have my Asus Transformer "Tethered" to my jailbreaked iphone 3GS via bluetooth and I use 3G perfectly well with an unlimited data plan through O2 ;)

Works perfect when wifi is not an option :D

Surely you could do that with pretty much any modern phone over wi-fi tethering if you wanted?

I think the iPad 2 is the 'best' tablet overall, just get a mac bluetooth keyboard and smart cover.

Alternatively, just tether the Transformer to your Android phone.

I beg to differ.

The Asus Transformer has better cameras, storage expansion capabilities, bigger display with more pixels per inch and a much longer battery life. If you buy the add on keyboard it can give up to 16 hours battery life!

I also love the fact that Flash works! :D

3G version? Just grab a mifi device or cheapo 3G/wifi phone to teather (if you don't have enough data on your phone contract?)

Defiantly the Transformer if you want built in OS cursor support (great for a thin client etc)

Any particular rush? The 2nd gen transformer isn't that far away and will offer a huge performance boost.

or

Archos 8"/10" G9. They have 'proper' cortex A9 cores over the cost cut ones in Tegra 2. (edit: they're also **** cheap! £200 for the 8" £280 for the 10.1". Screens aren't bad either)

Galaxy Tab P1000/P1010, the original one :)

HTC Flyer? Looks quite smart as well :D

Blackberry Playbook?

iPad or iPad 2?

Original iPad's are relatively cheap now, sub £350 for a 32GB WiFi one :)

You can beg to differ all you like, but I don't use a tablet to replace a laptop, for general (home/travel) use you can't beat the iPad 2 purely due to the massively better app store, for the time being at least.

The difference between having decent apps on a tablet or having barely any is night and day imo.

But the Op states he wants to use a tablet to replace a laptop and this thread is the Ops.

The OP also states he would also like Android 3.0 and 10" Screen which the IPads don't have.

Getting bored of this lone excuse for the Ipads. :o As you will see from my previous posts, I own an iphone 3GS so I know how good the Apps Store is but I was remarkably surprised at how good the Android Market is now since purchasing the Asus Transformer.

I missed the Android part in the OP, apologies.

The Android Market is fairly good but not for tablet apps. That is what I was talking about. I'm not talking about phone apps so what you see on your 3GS isn't relevant.

Tethering a Transformer is his best and more or less only option then.

I agree with the above, now being the owner of an iPad 2 and a EEE Transformer, the OP will benefit more from the keyboard dock, curser support, extra battery life and better push mail support.

Apps in my opinion are only part of the story. The apps may be a higher quality on the iPad but I find the originality of android apps to be far superior.
