Best Tablet?

Big Argument thread now :D lol

Besides, you may use a tablet for browsing the web and email, but the amount of supportive apps for the iPad compared to that with those for Android Tablets is second to none.

Huge support.

Also with the iPad 2 having no major connections like the transformer, i think i'd rather have my tablet standalone, than have it linked up to a television, and i cannot see a mini USB connection on the tablet?

My needs were "Flash" so websites can display properly.

The Transformer outputs HDMI, mini USB whereas with iPad2 you will have to fork out more money to have any capability of doing those things the Transformer does out of the box.

Extra storage facilities, 1GB Ram standard in the Transformer, not 512MB as in the Ipad 2.

Plus others details mentioned in my earlier posts made me buy the Transformer instead.

Nobody is saying the Transformer is bad or that you were wrong to get it, just that you have to look at the overall picture for each individual person.

Thanks for all the replies guys some really helpful stuff there.

To clear everything up and maybe help you pick the best one for me:

1) My phone contract only gives 1GB data a month, and I use that on my phone so tethering isn't really an option.
2) I won't be using many apps. Gmail, my IMAP mail, web browsing, typing stuff up on the move, editing Google Docs, and watching TV stuff like 4OD, Iplayer when I'm on Wifi.
3) No budget set - but I don't want a laptop/netbook and tablet. I want it to all in once, hence me liking the proper detachable keyboard that the Transformer has.
4) Things putting my off an Ipad2 - not a massive fan of Apple OS, everything else I have is all Google (mail, calendar, docs, phone etc...), connectivity.
5) Will be ordering in the next week or so - if it's not out now or in stock I can't/won't wait.
6) Really does have to have 3G - I need my emails on the go etc......
7) Bluetooth keyboard is perfectly fine.
8) Well aware of the apps available for Andriod as I have an Andriod phone and they are fine for my use.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S at the moment but I'll probably be getting the SGS2 in a bit if that's any help....?

I would think, if your getting the SGS2 soon, you could always keep with Android/Google integration and grab the Transformer.

That way everything is Android, and the Transformer comes with Polaris Office :)

Keep your options open though, as newer and better Honeycomb tablets should be out after august i think.

Well unless you change to a deal with totally unlimited data it looks like you can't tether. Maybe get a Galaxy S II with Three on The One Plan so you have totally unlimited data, then you can get a Transformer and I think you'd get on fine with that.

That is probably the best thing you can do.

Other than that a 32/64GB 3G iPad2 on a data plan is a decent option, with a smart cover and bluetooth keyboard.

Really, if you want an Android tablet (and you do), the Transformer is the one to go for. You'll just have to work around the fact it doesn't take a SIM card. It's not a big issue really.

The Motorola Xoom comes as 3G and it isn't terrible but it isn't great either. The Transformer is better.

Also the Xoom costs like £100 more for the base unit doesnt it? and there has been many reviews saying the TF is better as for the keyboard etc etc.

Consider GiffGaff, £10 per month - Unlimited Data+Texts and 250 mins :)

Will be buying the SGS2 and using my current phone contract as it still has like 18 months to run!

Do you still need to buy and put a SIM card in theser 3G devices? I just assumed you got free unlimited data automatically setup from the start for the extra hundred quid or so sticker price?

Not able to wait, tablet will be purchased by Wednesday at the latest I recon.

Haha, what? Good lord no.

You need a SIM card and data package that will cost you upwards of £10/month most likely, depending on how much data you require.

That's ******** then. Scrap the need for 3G, guess I'll get the Transformer.

Can you update Andriod on these like you can phones?

Don't worry, you're not the only one. I assumed that would be how it was (like how it is on the Kindle with the 3G version). I was quite surprised at how wrong I was! :(

Can't or "shouldn't" re the tethering?

For 3G, the price tag is because it has the module integrated with the device, you can tether over wifi and use youe phones 3g connection, or you can get a new sim card and buy a data-package to get your 3g connection.

If you plan on using your phones internet by tethering, then get a wifi-only, or 3G if you plan on using a separate data-plan for it :)
