E90 335i - any info?

Weird. Is there really a need for a 530i? I can't see how this can go alongside the 523i and 528i. Especially if it's less powerful than the 528i

Surely fox was saying the 530i was more pwoerful than the 528i, but somehow was slower to 60 by 0.5 secs.....at least that's how I understood it.

Its the delivery of the power that makes the 530 needed.

If i was buying a 5 series the last thing i'd want is a 4 pot turbo, its a luxury car that needs a bit of refinement.

You are not paying a 5k premium just to save a few quid on the tax, its also a year newer and has the BMW warranty etc?

yes its a little newer but In my eyes 20k is just too much to pay for a 3 series now considering that the shape of the E92 has not really changed since 06. I paid 42k euro back in 08 for my first 335i which at the time I thought was good value but I would find it hard to pay anything close 20k for a 3 series now.

Yes of course the 530i is more powerful, duh :o

The 523i and 528i are 6 cylinder engines though. There is no 4 pot petrol in the lineup..

That's what Fox said though, so you read it right, but he was wrong.

Both the 523i and 528i are a 3.0 straight six.

No, Fox is right - BMW announced changes to the lineup about a week ago.

The 523i has been dropped, the 528i now has a 4 cylinder 2.0 turbo engine which is also available as a 520i in a lower state of tune.

At the same time they have reintroduced the 530i and made other changes, including replacing the 525d's 6 cylinder engine with a 2.0 4 cylinder with two turbos.

Fair enough. Before my edit, I said that maybe they've changed it :o

Is this UK-only? Or is this a proper overhaul of the range?

Sadly nobody will buy the 530i, virtually every F10 I see around is a 520d :(
It's rubbish, isn't it?
It totally doesn't deserve the dual exhaust either :(

Although I saw an F10 535i the other day, I couldn't believe it!
And I saw an E39 535i yesterday.

I don't think they're classing it as an LCI model, it's just various changes including start/stop being fitted to more models and more power for the 530d and 535d. Interestingly the 535d now has more power than the 535i!

Full details are in here: https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/pressclub/p/pcgl/download.html?textId=138100&textAttachmentId=167091

And the 535i now becomes half a second slower to 60 and I should imagine suffers again with ingear times. Seriously, it's like BMW want people to buy their
diesels :p
