hi guy as the title suggest is there any benifift to having a x58 mobo and the ntel Core i7 950 chip

over a i5 2500 and a p67 or z68

thanks again guys

Only time I'd suggest it would be if you pick the X58 stuff up at bargain prices 2nd hand. There are some real bargains to be had with i7 920 D0s going sub £100 and good boards for £60-70.

However as stulid rightly mentions aside from price there is no other real benefit, even Hyper Threading on the older i7s is hampered by the lack of support in most applications and the 2500s better performance. I'd say defiantly get a K chip and good cooler, makes the bang for buck so much better when you overclock them.

hehe figured so from some charts i see :) is the p67 mobo better than the z68 mobo is im not useing the ssd cashe function ?

i just dont understand if the z68 boards are better why people even buy p67 boards cos they are around the same price :)

I'd say that if they are the same or very similar prices you might as well get the Z68. While the features don't really do much over the P67 I think the boards should hold their value better for resale. Especially with the negative cougar point image due to the recall. Although I wouldn't fuss over it too much.
