Well it's taken a while but after getting the curtains and pole yesterday and up until midnight getting it ready I finally got it finished.
Here's some piccies.
In my rush to start my work on the bedroom I forgot to take pics before I started but here's one after the bed and wardrobes had been removed.
Laminate flooring wasn't very nice to have in a bedroom so we wanted to make it feel plusher and softer, just a nicer place to be.

After spending ages thinking of every combination of places the bed and furniture could go in and how much wardrobe space we need to fit our clothes in, I decided I would have to loose one of the smaller windows.
I wasn't keen on doing this but it was impossible to have enough storage space without taking it out. Another little thing I'm doing is hinging the door at the other side.
I've just started removing the wood surround.

My dad loves a bit of DIY so he came round to give me a hand.

Window fully bricked up.

So my first ever go at plastering, mixing the browning to go straight on the brickwork.

Messy job with a steep learning curve but pretty pleased with the results, I've scored the browning so the finishing plaster adheres to it.

We did have secondary double glazing which was quite effective but it was awkward to open, collected moisture and generally quite minging so had them replaced.

Time to start with the wiring, I spent ages thinking about this and after planning it all out I'm going for 22 sockets as 11 doubles, sounds excessive but you can never have too many

Also for lighting I'm having a main light switched next to the door and also either side of the bed, plinth lights switched again at the door and either side of the bed.
Wall lights with led book lights at either side of the bed with their own switches. Also next to each side of the bed I'm having 2 double sockets, cat5e and headphone sockets that will go to a socket behind the tv.

Behind the tv I've got 3 double sockets, tv aerial and 6 cat5e.
I'm using 2 cat5e for the HDMI matrix and 1 for the tv, probably 1 in the future for a media streamer so that leaves 2 spare.
I'm also fitting a double backbox and blanking plate for any future upgrades.

Next job to plaster over the walls, took me ages to get it right.

I found it quite enjoyable, you just keep flicking a bit of water on and keep going until your pleased with the results.

Next job was wallpapering time to get the old man back.

Working in to the night, didn't bother papering where the furniture is going.

Cracking on building the furniture, again late into the night after work.
It's fitted wardrobes from B&Q.

First one takes a while to build but you can really start motoring after that.

I needed to build a box section where the furniture finishes short of the wall, not really sure of the correct way to do this so just make it up as I went along.

Really pleased with how this box section finished up.

Carpet down and fixtures fitted.

Nearly there.

Just need curtains.

Keeping the old bed but new bedding, also using the old bedside cabinets until we get some new ones.

Just need a mirror on the dressing table and a chair or stool for the missus.
Goodnight!
