Another Build!

Actually SandyBridge i3 > than even the Phenom II X4 at 3.7GHz :D

But anyway SandyBridge i3 is not gonna be possible with the £500 budget...not when with monitor AND Windows 7 required within the budget as well.

i'd go with llano build , should easily handle light gaming/casual gaming needs

but if he planning on turning it into a gaming rig down the line by adding a decent gfx card then the i3 might be better, at this point it migth be conbsidering spending bit mroe on a power supply, not seen many builds with this power supply + gpu > hd5770/gtx 460 .

It was mainly for web browsing and hosting and for light gaming the onboard gfx should be good enough for it depending on the games played etc

But IMO for what it is mainly needed for I think sandybridge is the way to go. :)

Didn't realise those sub £50 H61 boards are back in stock...thought they are OcUK was gonna discontinue them consider the long time that they been out of stock lol.

But still, on the gaming side the AMD Llano would still have and edge...while the CPU is slower, the graphic on their APU is still about 3 times faster than the HD2000 of the i3 2100, and has dx11 support. As the OP's cousin is not a hardcore game like the most of us, I honestly think the AMD Llano would actually meet his needs more than the i3 2100 with HD2000 graphic, and I don't think he would get a dedicated gaming graphic card in the future.

total: £609.89
+ £20-£30 shipping)

i'll prolly change the SSD to an M4 same price though.

im not massive fan of os + hd bundle your saving like 10-20 pounds but losing like 500GB of memory :(

He doesn't really need the memory though for web browsing :D

Unlike us with 100+ games on steam. :D

Tru dat

but for a tenner seems like a good way of going, think if he fills it up fast and need to shell out another £30 quid odd to get another 500gb of hdd space.

Just as a heads up the Xigmatek Midguard White Knight case is back in stock for 24.99. I'd consider getting that and the Corsair 430w PSU with a build like this since it's on a couple of quid more and is likely to be of a higher quality (especially the PSU).

Guys Thanks so much once again!
A lot of choice there but I think Murray has nailed it!

I will run the spec past him then get on with the fun part!

Only thing I may change is the keyboard and mouse, and chat about games etc.
He don't play games at all at the mo, but after seeing mine the other day he seems to think he might get into gaming in the future. The option of adding a GPU later may be the best idea.
