i'm not naive enough to not know that gangs and knife crime doesn't exist in this country but i can't quite get my head around the difference in scale. there are groups of people i see in my local town on a friday, saturday night but there are not groups of people hanging around in gangs everynight etc and i've never seen a gang chase a 'rival'.
i have just seen a crimewatch story of a young coloured lad who was chased by a gang of youths on bikes with his brother. the younger brother escaped but the eldest was caught, assaulted, stabbed (so hard the blade broke off in his body) and killed.having never lived in a city, i'm lucky enough to not have first hand experience of it to the same extent one may do in a city.
do any other members see this kind of activity on a regular basis? ie gangs, hanging around and acting in such a way as i have mentioned above? do the police or local community not do anything to try and combat this?

My town doesnt have it as bad as that, to the best of my knowledge anyway. There is a bit of a gang mentality between people from the "top end" of town verses those from the "bottom end". And no thats not a class divide thing. Its literally the north end of town against the south end. Stupid really, though I dont think it escalates into violance very often.

My street is pretty much right on the borderline between the two and is actually a very peaceful street to live on. I've never seen any kind of gang activity in my area in the 17 years I've lived here.

We get gangs of blokes on horses with dogs rampaging around the local country side. I've never seen who they're chasing but I hope they get out foxed.

Used to be 2-3 "Families" in the town I live in back in the day, it got bad enough (clubs full of drug dealers, "turf" wars spilling over to more "upmarket" areas of town) to become the focus of a police operation which put a lot of the middlemen behind bars and quietened things down for awhile - seems to be picking up again atm tho :(

There are gangs of sheep, gangs of cows. Oh, and a gang of wild boar but other than that.. no.

The wild boar are the ones you need to look out for really.

There used to be gangs representing all the housing estates in my town, this was about 5 years ago. Maybe I just don't notice it because I don't hang around on the streets anymore, but generally there are less scrotes hanging around shops etc. these days. My mates and I used to get a bit of grief but when I started dressing like an adult it seemed to stop.
