So i would say yes, use that 5770 as even if you decide you won't keep it you could just give it back to your mate.

Hello my Scouse friend and good evening from this Manc. I have ordered all the stuff for both pc's i plan on building, fingers crossed that is.

I'll keep a look out for a used one but in all honesty if i bought a new one at say, £80. It would still be cheap for 2 5770's don't you think.

I am going to put these in my partners pc. I have already ordered the 2 for my gaming rig build, and i hope that mine will be considerably better than these at over £200 each. :D

EDIT.

Oh yeah. I forgot to say, that was the quickest 3 grand i've ever spent.

Hi.

I don't think i'll be playing top end games on her pc, i'll leave that for my gaming rig. I have 2 x MSI ATI Radeon HD 6950 OC Twin FrozR III Power Edition 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card's in crossfire. Or at least i will have when i've built it. LOL!!!!!!

AA = Anti Aliasing (the removal of jagged edges). So normally x2 is the lowest available improvement. This rises to x4, x8 and so on, each with possibly progressive greater performance hits the more you turn it up.

Just thought of something else i intended asking. In my gaming rig order, i ordered 2 x MSI ATI Radeon HD 6950 OC Twin FrozR III Power Edition 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card's.

I am still really interested in exploring EyeFinity. If i returned the cards above unopened, do you think they would charge me anything if i ordered 2 x Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 6950 FLEX 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with upto 5 Monitor Support & with FREE DIRT3 Game [11188-04-40G] in place of. That way i could go for EyeFinity when i've saved some more pennies to buy the two additional monitors

That then brings me on to the next question. You know i ordered the Hazro Ultra-Sharp HZ30Wi 30" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black [HZ30Wi].

Do you think i could just add two smaller monitors, obviously one for each side, or do you think i should, if i can, return the 30" Hazro monitor and order three of the Samsung SM2233RZ 22" 120Hz 3D Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black [LS22CMEKFV/EN]

It's a dedicated Physics engine that Nvidia have in their GFX cards along with CUDA and 3D Vision, used to be called Ageia PhysX until they bought up the company and kindly monopolised it.

It used to be a stand along PCI / PCI Express based card with 128MB of RAM that you had in your pc that took away all the physics calculations from the graphics card and CPU in a machine. this meant faster more complex destruction effects in game and realistic movement / ragdoll characters / flames / smoke etc. Nvidia have now incorporated this ability into the 8xxx/9xxx and above graphics cards utilising what they classify as "CUDA Cores" or Stream Porcessors you need above 32 cores according to NV in order to make effective use of a card for PhysX, my 9600GSO has 48 and I believe the GTX 580 has 512!!

Now you need to have a Nvidia card to use the benefits of it, as you can see from my specs i am running what is known as hybrid physX where you use a software patch which enables Nvidia and ATi drivers to run simulationeously on a computer (normally barred by NV drivers) meaning you can set the ATi cards to provide the GFX horsepower in games and the Nvidia card is used for dedicated PhysX processing in games that support it, behaving like the original Ageia system.

ATi cards can run PhysX in games that have it but the performance is TERRIBLE! compared to an Nvidia card doing the honours. Mafia 2 on my system with low physx and the nvidia card disabled is 5-10fps, but with the 9600 active and doing Physx duties I get circa 35-40 with max physX effects

I think i have at least covered some of the backstory and usage there, anyone else please feel free to add / correct as required....its a complex story lol
