Hello all,

I currently have the 470 in SLI, I've got about £350 - £400 to spend,

So I would like anyone to be honest with me, should I replace the 470s with the 560 would I notice any performance upgrade?

Or should I be looking at another card I have to use SLI as I'm running Nvidia surround "three monitors"

If you get the 560Ti cards in SLI you'll probably notice a very slight improvement in performance but more importantly they'll be quieter and cooler.

As for the standard GTX560 they'll be about the same as you have right now. Either way, not worth the outlay IMO.

What are you 470s overclocked to?

Ahh ok ok, So what card as a minimum should I be looking at to get the maximum performance boost?

My 470s are not clocked, I've never been good at doing stuff like that so it's running default.

GTX470 are most likely faster than a GTX580 so any single card is unlikley to be better than what you currently have
 
I definately would not waste your money on a 'side-grade'. Personally.. I'd keep the 470's unless you wanted to get one single powerful card to get over an SLI issues you were having.

As a minimum I would be suggesting 570's in SLI if you were to upgrade - but some people suggest that's not a good idea anyway due to memory limitations.

You say you have 350-400, does that include the money from the sale of your 2x 470's ?

Reckon you should hold on to what you have now unless you are having problems or performance issues?

Hmmm, Then I'll start looking at what else I can upgrade in my rig, I've got money in my pocket and it's starting to burn a hole lol..

No the £400 is without the sale of the 470s, To be honest with you, I just got this Nvidia surround 2 days ago, and when I could max out almost any game, now I have to dim the settings down a tad for it to cope with running three monitors,
 
I've got a MSI mobo, from that I tried to clock the I5 from stock 3.30GHZ to 4.2GHZ, but I couldnt keep it stable I kept getting blue screen after 10/30mins of use.

But I'm not good at overclocking I dont really 100% know what i'm doing so I was using google for info.
 
With multi card setups, you REALLY benefit from having a fast CPU as the demands are greater than with a single card. I'd recommend you spend time (and perhaps a little money on a better cooler (perhaps case cooling if this is your issue) if you don't already have one) overclocking that chip to get it stable.

With that.. you would most likely not need to upgrade your GFX card setup I'd imagine. If it's stable for about ten minutes, I'm sure you could test to see if clocking it to 4.2 solves your issue of having to turn settings down, and if it does, get some help with your overclock :-)

Could be a good Idea, a new case would be nice as I have the old Predator 2.0 Alienware case, the fans are rubbish "and noisy" maybe watercooling might be an option???

An OC 470 is nearly as fast as a 480, you would be going some to beat a 580 or is that a typo -GTX470 are most likely faster than a > GTX580 <

470 sli is a good set up, performs very well. ;)
 
I assume he meant GTX470 SLI is faster than a single 580.

Most GTX470s will overclock to stock 480 performance and some will do a little beyond - with aftermarket cooling and sticking 1.1v on them you can probably get stock 580 performance.
 
+1 for overclocking the cpu and gpu's, ive found that at stock, my cpu is a pretty substantial bottleneck with sli'd gtx 470's.

+1 Hi setter, just had alook at a review for 470 sli with a 965 at 3.7[data path 6.4], but with your CPU 920[data path 4.8] at 4.2, you'll be flying. ;)
