I'm pretty damn certain soe still sell copies themselves, that's If it even needs a box anymore, I have a feeling you just subscribe, certain the station pass just does that.
 
From 2.36 from play. Not bad tbh, it's a good game in itself, just dated graphics. Believe me when I say the gameplay more than makes up for that :-)

BTW.. I'm not sure you need the 'core combat' version either? I assume you get that free nowadays?

Yes, but I though the accounts were pretty much free. You just had to "subscribe" but that wouldn't take affect until your 30 free days are up.

So you can pretty much cancel your sub once the account is active.

I may be wrong because I haven't created a PS account since release. :p
 
yes, I think that's how it works... if you don't want the account cancel it after 30 days (or just don't pay). I haven't thought about what I'm going to do after my 45 free days are up, but I think I might pay a sub until the beta comes out, then subscribe to the full game (dependent on if it's any good lol).
 
I'm going to keep my sub open, for the sake of £8 it's nothing.

Planetside 2 sounds good on paper, apart from a few things (damage/customizations) and if implemented right will be a great game. They've changed the whole combat mechanics and modernized it which I'm quite happy about.

Although it's a big change compared to PS1, I think it's for the better.
 
I know PS has a good formula, but I think it would be a shame to not at least try some different mechanics whilst updating the graphics etc.

Unless they close the servers, I expect there will still be some people who will snub PS2 and continue with PS though. The bottom line is they need more people to play, and people nowadays wouldn't really expect a subscription game to look so dated.
 
Ok, well i managed to get back into my old account, ive got 45 free days unused so far. I just cannot find anywhere to download it.

Try using a US proxy to get to the direct2drive us site. Otherwise, maybe one of us could get you a copy of the 'launcher' program to see if that might work and download the whole thing?

goddamn they'd better do this game justice!

Who else is playing PS1? I managed to get my account back surprisingly, I couldn't remember many of the questions they asked but they sorted me out regardless - 45 days free play!
 
Wow... this is awesome. Can remember the first, the feeling of gathering a squad together and hot dropping into an enemy base was fantastic.

Hope they can emulate the gameplay with the new one.

Is anyone still playing the original then? Might have to dust the ol' TR suit off.
