Hi people.

I have the opportunity to PX my Mondeo TDCi (Zetec S) for a ST220.

Same year (2004), slightly higher mileage (100k - mines on 85k).

I do minimal miles on a weekly basis (<50 usually). My heart is saying yes do it, always loved the MK3 ST. At the time of buying my ZS the budget didnt allow for a tidy ST and I was doing quite a few more miles than I am now, seems like I'm not really taking advantage of having the TDCi as I'm not covering a huge mileage!

Thoughts? Wise? Stupid? Do it?

Phil :)

25-26MPG overall average, does 33-34 on a run.

That's not that far from y little 1.6 focus which is good.

It's a car I saw first ages ago on a car cleaning thread somewhere and that colour is just perfect, I just think the cost of tyres might be a bit overwhelming though compared to mine. How fast has yours eaten the a set of fronts?

I get about 11k from a set of fronts and at least double that for rears, and they cost about £100 per corner for Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta, one of the better tyres you can fit to an ST220.

The colour is awesome, and when clean absolutely amazing.

I'm meeting the guy next week to have a look, certainly looks good in pictures, I think it's got most options apart from Nav and Xenons.

They are pretty much the major options!

Drives me mad when I see people say this.

FULLY LOADED ALL OPTIONS EXCEPT <list of the options that actually matter>

Fox has a point, the mondeo ST220 came with most options and the big ones are the Nav and Xenons.

Go compare gave me a quote of 2500 so it's probably not going to happen. So much for 5 years no claims and being 26 lol. Even with no mods its £1,100 :S

Yes, lets use Gocompare as the definitive source of insurance for a modified 3 litre car at 26.

Or maybe offer a better solution instead of just being unhelpful and arguably rude?

Try running quotes directly with a few major insurers. I never find the comparison sites competitive. Try Elephant/Admiral/Bell/Direct Line/etc/etc.

Won't take you more than an hour to run a quote through 5 or 6 companies and you'll probably find a better quote.
