Obviously targetted at English speakers only...

Have you thought of learning foreign languages just for the hell of it?

I quite fancy learning French. Can still remember bits and bobs from school so shouldn't be too hard.

I also think it would be cool to speak German, Italian and Spanish.

Would love to, would make going on Holliday so much nicer.
But as you all know I struggle enough as it is with my own language.

I speak very basic Norwegian. Also know a bit of French, German and Russian (when I said a bit, I mean a tiny tiny bit).

Would like to learn all 4 properly, just never got round to it!

French to a professional level (near fluent listening, intermediate speaking and writing), Spanish to a survival level and some basic Arabic.

French and all the romantic languages are pretty easy to learn.

I'd love to be able to speak any other language, but I'm just terrible at learning them. Did spanish and french for two years at school and barely remember hello :p

I can swear proficiently in Portugeuse, Spanish, Italian, Russian and Polish.

I can understand a fair bit of Russian, a lot of French and a fair bit of Spanish. Have been told I'm a natural linguist but have yet to actually fully try and learn a language. I think I will try and learn Spanish next year.

did french to GCSE level, however that was more due to the teachers looks and love of low cut tops than wanting to do the language :p

now i can understand very basic french, and speak a few words.

oh, and i can say hello in finnish
(hello in finnish is moi, like moist without the st)

French and german.

Je suis desole, mon francais est ne bien pas, parce que mon professeuer est tres enneyeux.

If I don't count French or English, then yes.

I used to speak a good level of Spanish - it's basic now, but enough for a basic conversation with someone.

My Greek is good enough to get by with, can read it fine, I just struggle with vocab and grammar.

I used to speak A/S level Arabic - but having not spent much time over the last 10 years in the middle east I haven't had the opportunity to use it. I know enough to be polite, ask for directions, count etc... but that's it. :(

Russian. I studied it at secondary school and when I joined the Army back in 1988 they spotted it and offered me a trade as an EWOP in the Royal Signals.

Fascinating language, country and culture.

I'm a bit rusty in it now having not used it for many years but I can still read and write it and hold a basic conversation. Thinking of going back to brush up on it at some point.
