15k loan turned to 250k

An accountancy firm, Kingston Smith, was duly appointed as Trustees in Bankruptcy with the legal rights to all Byron’s possessions and his home. And that’s when the debt really started to soar. Astonishingly, Kingston Smith’s fees and those of its solicitors, Ashfords, soon totalled more than £100,000, according to a statement prepared in March 2010.

Incredible.
In no way, should any firm be allowed to charges expenses worth more than 6 times the debt they are trying to make solvent.
That utterly ludicrous, and I ponder if the professional body has been contatced to investigate this firm in the first place.

He got fobbed off a few times by lombard it seems. Shouldn't he have contacted the ombudsman?

Under the circumstances I can see why he felt suicidal, the poor man has had a horrible few years by the sounds of it. Hopefully things will improve for him soon. But dousing yourself in petrol and planning to set yourself alight? I think they need to re-check his mental health. What a horrific way to try to end it. :(

I think, that Scottish couple who won the Euromillions should give this bloke £1m so he can restart his life.

After all, they are both old, and won't spend £161m in the rest of their lifetime :)

Harsh luck to Byron though, i guess no bank can be trusted :(
