24" Advice please

If you don't mind one less inch then get the U2311 - 1920 x 1080

Yup also good shout..
Does it matter that its connections are only Inputs: 1x HDMI, 1x Analogue
No DVI-D (or can i use a connector/converter to get full limits of my G Card?)
Will be runnning it via a ATI 5870 card.

An adapter like that would work fine with a HDMI only monitor (or a cable like this) - the image quality will be exactly the same compared to a dvi to dvi connection.

However, based on your budget I would give a big +1 to the Dell U2311H (E-IPS panel type) monitor suggestion. It really is a fantastic quality monitor for the price and it does well with games. Here is an in-depth review

the screen with no DVI is surely not aimed at the pc market i would say. i really have read around and the dell does seem to be a great option as mentioned above.

otherwise you need to spend over £300.

i don't know what it is, but i have purchased and returned 3 24" screens, all around the £160 mark... my biggest bugbear is the viewing angles, standing up makes the screen look awful, and as i said i dont get that with my 2032bw samsung that is 3 years old.

people might say well you don't need to stand up! but i repair pc's and fix issues and often have a client stood next to me, i also operate my pc/office on my feet and i need be able to see the screen when i am stood up or raised about normal pc operations seating postion :D

i have leant from my purchased and will now keep searching and reading up before i buy again.

Think you may be right on the price range for a top spec think im looking at £300ish..
Just reading some good things about this-
BenQ XL2410T
http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/benq_xl2410t.htm
May be worth the extra hit on the money to get what im really after...
Seems you have done a lot of the donkey work with the sub £200 screens.
Biggest fear is like you have experienced is getting a monitor and having to send it back due to poor performance.
Think the price range will have to go to £300 .. ):

I wouldn't suggest going with that BenQ - there are so many horror stories about it.

Hence I would suggest either going for the LG 23in 120Hz monitor with the HDMI input for £162, the lovely Dell U2311H or saving up and getting the Hazro HZ27WC non-glass for £360 (this week).

That said, may I ask what you will mainly be doing with your system?

yeah can agree with the last 2, but pfff the lg was naff apart from gaming

Aye, the LG is really for if you are mainly playing fast-paced FPS games and not much else. In this situation the 120Hz refresh rate is really worth having (as is the zero input lag), but for most peoples uses (which are more rounded) then the Dell is probably the best bet and the hazro is a good option if you want to push the boat out a bit.
