We have got used over the recent past to a repressive establishment smothering dissent - kettling, the Police getting away scot free with killing a newspaper seller and an electrician, beating up a protesting woman and arresting people peacefully protesting in Fortnum & Mason, jailing someone for a year for throwing a couple of banner poles, jailing someone else for 16 months for sitting on the bonnet of a car and the banning of any protest in the vicinity of the alleged mother of democracy.

There are only two real examples of the British people kicking up a stink en masse in the recent past, one successfully and one a total failure - the Poll Tax riots and the marches against the illegal invasion of Iraq.

We have people dying for their beliefs all over the Middle East see people's protests in Greece and France; why is it that the British, who are renowned around the world for complaining all the time, are so sheep-like over the abuse of power by the establishment

People in Greece are protesting because they might have to start working for a change. My heart bleeds for the people who can’t retire at 50 with a full pension. You want to protest, why not move there. They’ll welcome you with open arms. ;)

People don’t complain because there is no day to day abuse of power by your so called establishment.

At some point people will go to the streets and protest about you. :p

Because the 'issues' the people of this country think they are facing are trivial in comparison to the issues faced by people of the countries you mention.

I believe your message of "Fight the power!........For some reason." would go down well in North Korea. Collection to book Cockhausen a one way Air Koryo flight to Pyongyang anybody?

So what you're saying is violent riots are the way forward but you get upset when one or two police officers get a bit heavy handed when trying to keep the peace during mob mentality occasions....... not the sharpest tool in the box are you.

Tbf you'd have to agree that the establishment have done a pretty good job at quelling the UK Uncut movement that for a while threatened the cosy financial system which exclusively benefits the privileged few. Arrest 190 peaceful protesters then drop the charges at the last minute, haven't heard much from UK Uncut since then.

No.

Yes.

Pot - Kettle - Black :p

ok ok, let me put this another way. you're saying its not ok for 'the establishment' to hurt / kill innocent people e.g the list you gave. But it is ok for 'the masses' the hurt / kill innocent policemen / properties etc not belong to the 'protestors' during violent riots e.g poll tax RIOTS.

I'm just emphasising that point to see if you can see how hypocritical you are being

People don't complain that much because deep down we know that ALL governments and big businesses are corrupt at one level or another. It's all one big boy's club and in general the rich people don't give a flying **** about the man in the street because 1) they were born into riches and don't have a clue about real-life or 2) they became rich through being ruthless and exploiting other people.

Thats the brass tacks of it.

I see you can't be bothered to let facts get in the way of your rants.

In reality, the average Greek works slightly longer hours than the European average, the average age of retirement is pretty much smack bang in the middle of the European range (Germany and France, on the other hand, are at the low end) and Greek productivity ain't too bad either.

Isn't that more reason why people should complain?
