Horses on the road in the 21st century

Doesn't bother me at all, though I don't think that they should be permitted on the dual carriageway. That just seems crazy for all road users.
Cyclists have no right to be on the road, horrible little perverts.

Except as bam0 points out cyclists have an absolute right to be on the roads (apart from in specific circumstances such as motorways etc) and cars do not. Is it the lycra that turns you on and causes you to call them perverts? :p

But then as a law student I'm almost certainly telling you something you know anyway about the legalities of road use. :o

I know they have an absolute right to be on the roads, I still dislike them.
Mmm, middle aged, overweight men in lycra. Gets me going ;).

Have you ever seen what happens when a motorbike hits horse-**** on a corner? Horse riders don't pay road tax, motorcyclists do, and I think they have the right to expect a clear road surface free of horse crap.

Why just horses? You could replace the word horse in pretty much all the above posts with tractor, lorry, caravan, cyclist, mobility scooter, slow car? They can all be annoying to be stuck behind.

Yeah but none of the above stop in traffic, defecate, and then move on ^^

Obvious troll is obvious.

I fail to see the connection between a well punctuated/constructed post with valid concerns/reasoning voiced, and obvious trolling .

I live in an area where there are generally a lot of horses/horse owners and it's quite rare to see them on the road.

It would be annoying if it was commonplace, but it isn't.

The bikers could stop and pick it up. :p

Road Tax? He mentions road tax? Are you serious?

And? its a valid concern, bikers pay to use the road, horse riders do not, if a biker did hit some horse poo at speed its very likely that a nasty accident could occur.

I see no problem with his point, perhaps your too eager to brand people trolls...

His "point" is just plain wrong. Road tax doesn't pay for the roads. All tax gets pooled before it's distributed. He's probably just ignorant, and not trolling.

There's no such thing as road tax, it's a car tax just for owning and operating a car. The money isn't ringfenced for the roads and even if it was wouldn't be anywhere near enough to pay for their maintenance. The number of drivers with a sense of entitlement is staggering.

Horse riders pay the same tax for the roads as all other users. Car tax is based on the pollution the vehicle cause’s and does not go towards roads.
