Huge explosion at the government quarters in Oslo.

What other western attacks have involved one man gun rampage at a political camp.

Why does it have to be western? There are similarities with the attacks in Mumbai and on Benazir Bhutto here.

- Targeting high profile political figure ... check
- Sending uniformed gunmen to kill innocent civilians ... check
- Use of VBIED (that may have failed to detonate) ... check
- Possible suicide bomber ... check

Sounds like Al-Quedas to me.

Seeing the damage from the bombing on BBC, there's far too much damage for it to not have been a car bomb. The car the device was in must have been completely obliterated.

Because west is much more secure than such countries, in those countries terrorism is much more common. It's certainly not the hall mark attacks we have seen against western countries.

There have been recent arrests in Germany I think of people planning a Mumbai style attack there. We're not as secure as they want you to think. Whatever though, let's wait and see - it's not like I want it to be Al-Queda.

All the witnesses on recently are playing down car bomb saying the damage is inside the building and that the suspect car, is the one rolled over in a few. Pictures. That although is heavily damaged isn't blown to bits.
Also two explosions has been, being played down as well.
But it's still all speculation, so we'll have to wait and see.

Yes but the fact remains that THIS attack doesn't seem like an Al Qaeda attack to me. AQ now tend to follow up the first bomb with a secondary device or small arms fire - this hasn't happened here.

I think this is more likely to be a single nutjob/small group of idiots or a right wing militia.

Assuming this is the same island, look at the amount of tents!

There are between 500-1000 people, 15 year old and up there.

Any confirmation on it being Muslim fundamentalists? Could be Varg Vickernes stepping up his game.

*Varg Vikernes. He has been in the media loads about how he has learnt from his sins. But it is extremely unlikely that he would attack his own country considering the group of people he was a part of for a long time.

His image is very hyped by the media.

The only confirmation of anything is a bomb went off and anti terrorist police are on the way to the island. Everything else is unconfirmed.

News still saying PM was due to be at the Island, yet one of their contacts said that he wasn't due today, but tomorrow.

Also, if the current Prime Minister isn't meant to be at the island until tomorrow (what CNN are reporting) then this smacks of bad intel and shoddy preparation - not something you see when AQ target government buildings in Afghanistan.

However, tomorrow would have not been a working day and have less people in the office. The ex prime minster was supposed to be visiting today though.
