Huge explosion at the government quarters in Oslo.

It's us against them.

Sure is, I mean how long before poking and attacking countries before they just say "no" and come down hard on "these" religious groups, ever seen the movie The Siege

This is multiculturalism and enrichment for you, give them a home, a country to live in free from terror and they throw in back in your face.

Dont bit the hand that feeds you, spring to mind.

Haha! Wigan's no oil painting, but I've definately been to worse places.

Yeah, its not great but least its immigrant free and has some nice countryside areas away from the town.

You have no clue about Chechnya. The movement has evolved beyond nationalism. Wahabbi money and influence has poured in and Chechens fight all over for AQ including Afghanistan. Moscow has payed some remotely secular Chechen stooge to hold off the Islamists.

Plenty of Wahabbi money flows into Chechnya (great publicity for the global jihad) but that does not mean that Chechen rebels are fighting for a global caliphate (one of AQ's stated aims). It's a conflict about Russian expansionism and gross abuses of human rights by Moscow - not getting Western forces out of Islamic nations.

AQ has become a brand name used by Islamic groups - AQ in the Maghreb etc. The group and name has progressed what your 9/11 authored books tell you.

Yes it has - that is my point. I already referenced AQ in the Maghreb (and in Iraq) as an example of offshoots of AQ that can trace leadership, influence and money back to the central AQ leadership. These little tiny groups who claim some level of affiliation have in all reality little in common with AQ other than their claim of religious and self-proclaimed affiliation. We shouldn't be calling them AQ because AQ is inherently beatable. Taking out every similar mad group in the world inspired by AQ is not an achievable aim for counterterrorism and gives AQ too much credit.

You might want to read RAND's 'Swarming and the Future of Conflict' by John Arquilla for an idea of what the future of AQ attacks might hold. I've read plenty of stuff that's a lot more recent than 9/11 thanks.

The gunman was Norwegian

It definately sounds like a local with local knowledge, as much as it amazes me, no terrorist in history has ever moved from their initial location to amount another significant attack in another population filled area, although plenty of "locals" have. I still go for the policeman with a grudge theory.

A few pics are on the site that leaks things live, one very chilling photo of the gunman standing at the edge of a lake surrounded by bodies. One or two still looking alive/injured too. :(
