Amy Winehouse found dead

Both where artists thats the point I was making.

Like her or not AW was real and authentic nothing like the crap currently in the charts.

Like it or not she won 5 grammy awards and broke america with her second album. She is as relevant as anyone on that list.

You seriously think that a singer with two albums under her belt, and a string of failed or substandard live performances has the same relevance and influence on music as Janis Joplin, who incidentally died at the same age as Amy Winehouse having been far more prolific and influencial in a largely male dominated music industry at the time.

Amy Winehouse herself laid her own inspiration at the door of Janis Joplin.

Whether you like her music or not, Amy Winehouse was a arguably a great singer, however as I am sure time will tell, her influence on the music industry as a whole does and will forever pale in significance to that of Janis Joplin and others on that list, including Miles Davis, Ray Charles and Jimmy Page. She is frankly not even in the same league as those people in this regard.

And history will judge her as harshly and accurately as you have. However she is contomporary so she will make headlines right now. History will not be so kind.

I don't have sympathy for most others who have ended their own life. Why should this person be any different?

It's not unusual to hear this sort of statement, but I simply cannot agree with it. I find it tragic that people can reach such levels of despair and anxiety that the only way out (as they see it) is to end their life.

RIP Amy Winehouse. I for one will miss you and your music. I want to believe your death was not your intention.

Amy probably had more talent than all the lame ***** on this forum dismissing her life with a Pfffff, she did drugs so **** her !!!!!

What if her father was reading this which is entirely possible !

Sickening :(

I suggest you stop tossing-off over circuit boards, get out meet some people and learn some empathy.

I think it is a tragic ending regardless.Someone with genuine talent has departed for whatever reason. Its a shame.

Its not a shock given her history but its a loss in terms of her obvious talent.

You arent changing anyones opinion with that level of arseyness.

Its the same basic problem that means a guy is pumping his last £5 into a fruit machines and Amy Winehouse lies dead in her flat. Its the same addiction.

Not sure I agree with that - one is purely mental the other is a dependency on a substance. I'd wager getting addicted to heroin etc.. is a far more powerful and much harder to break addiction.

Whilst gambling addictions are not to be taken lightly you won't find gamblers going cold turkey or becoming physically sick after trying to quit.

Living up to your user-name I see.

You think that breaking a mental addiction addiction is the same as withdrawal symptoms from a substance you've become physically dependent upon? That they're the same addiction?

You would have to explain what you mean by "physical dependancy".

Take a guy away from the means with which to gamble and monitor his reaction and see how it differs from an alcoholic who cant get a drink.

A shame she died, she had a great voice, but at the same time, you have to wonder whether her drug and alcohol addiction had any effect on it. Do we know how she died yet?
