Amy Winehouse found dead

You think that breaking a mental addiction addiction is the same as withdrawal symptoms from a substance you've become physically dependent upon? That they're the same addiction?

In many ways the psychological addiction to physical drugs is similar to the psychological addiction of gambling.

Smoking is a prime example, the actual physical addiction is easily broken after around 3-5 days as nicotine which is the cause of that physical addiction has limited longevity. It is the psychological dependence on that drug that is the real barrier and the same (albeit far more serious and withdrawal has the potential to kill) with opiates, the physical dependence is easier to treat than the psychological dependence.

It is not so simple to separate the two.

Great post.

It's still very sad someone so young with a talent such as hers. Its friends and family that are left with the hurt. rip amy

Well what if it was one of your family being discussed in this way such a short time after her death?

It is not though is it, besides which I would not be frequenting an over-clocking forum so soon after the death of a loved one to begin with.

Amy Winehouse was, for good or ill, a self obsessed public figure who died in somewhat squalid circumstances, it is hard to empathise with someone who was given every advantage and opportunity only to squander it and in many way revel in her own irreverence toward those that cared for and loved her.

As I have said the real tragedy is the way she squandered her life, and not that she finally succumbed to that tragedy paying the ultimate price for it.

OMG my opinion is so shocking against the backdrop of being glad a young talented singer has died !!

But you have a point !

Famous people are meant to be role models for kids. Everyone knew about her drug and alcohol abuse, so what kind of impression would that give to them?
At least her death served some purpose and maybe people will see the reality that drugs and alcohol can and will kill you, no matter how young you are, and that this lifestyle is not the 1 you want to be taking.

I still couldn't care less, people die every day, my cousin who was 38 died from cancer a year ago, I don't expect to make a post about it and have people on the internet whom I've never met give a **** about it. Why should people care about some drugged up fool who they've never met or had a connection with?

She had a good voice. About 2 - 3 years ago.

Last I saw she was smacked off her head, swaggering on a stage, getting booed off.

No sympathy for her. It was inevitable she would die from the drugs. The only shame was her age, and how she never turned it around. Although some blame the media for the downward spiral..

Fame has nothing to do with being a role mode, famous simply means recognised and known by many. Morally I suppose famous people should be good role models but it doesn't mean they have to be and the definition of a good role model would vary person to person.

Im assuming the hostility im getting stems from ignorance of any mental health issues she may have had of of which no one here knows **** all about! let alone how she died yet, what a bunch a ****'s you would look if she was run over by a bus but then you would still assume she was so ****ed she stepped out into it.

No one really gets run over by a bus in their flat though.

Was just about to post something very similar, but i'm tired so thanks because now i don't have to.

I have sympathy for her family and feel sad that she died but in the end i agree with the posters who say that it is hard to emphasise with her in this.

As i think Castiel said, she revelled in her public persona.
I say this not as a joke, but seriously as it sums up why i find it hard to have sympathy for her- " He's tried to make me go to rehab, but I won't go"!!

Did you find Amy's stash or something, your posts are getting rather disjointed.
