Is there a sardine shortage?

Choosing to eat meat or not to eat meat is a choice everyone needs to make, its a personal choice based on ones beliefs/nutritional facts/political views.

Seems strange that you've made the choice not to eat meat based on your beliefs/nutritional facts/political views yet are willing to eat eggs from caged hens which is less nutritionally valuable IIRC and also subject chickens to a life of misery...

theres a shortage of most things in the worlds oceans these days other than pollution.

That much protein in your diet cant be good for you. It puts extra stress on your kidneys.

Tell that to the millions of bodybuilders world wide...actually some people believe that bodybuilders have the best nutrition in society, I am one of these believers.

In fact when I started almost 4 years ago I was 24st, today I'm a couple of pounds over 18st today...my results have been so good that everyone else I know, my family and friends who have watched me change over these past years are all asking me to make them a diet because they all want to lose weight too...I've lost loads of weight and gained some muscle in the process...I reckon I'll be 17st within next 8 weeks, which is my target weight, I'm 6,4.

I do have pictures from 4 years ago on my facebook, and I have pictures from around 18 months ago and I also have pictures I took from around 3 months ago before I started cutting/dieting again...and when my cutting season is up and I reach 17st, I'm going to take more pictures and then post on this forum and also bodybuilding.com.

You look great but i bet you running your insides down to an early grave. Like i asked before, what about Protein shakes? I take the ones made from Soya beans

No I said thats the decision people need to make based on those...personally my choice was for one reason and one reason only...to my friends and family I tell them a story where I had a dream about a cow to make them laugh lol...

The story goes like this..."I was in the middle of a big green field, cows grazing peacefully, children playing in the hills above, laughter coming from the background...I moved towards this one particular cow, something odd struck me about this particular cow, and to my sheer shock and amazement, the cow started to speak to me...he was a friendly cow and we struck off a conversation that seemed to flow endlessly for hours...he was a great guy and we would remines about the good old days when these fields were looking a lot better and there were plenty more sheep around to talk to and how things had changed over the years"...and then when I woke up the next morning, I thought to myself, this is a sick thought, because I eat mcdonalds and have hamburgers all the time and I know what that guy taste like, which just isnt right, because he was a lovely guy...so then I decided to never eat meat again.

lol, thats the story I've been telling everyone for past 10 years :p

...In all seriousness I stopped eating meat to be more healthy, I'm not saying meat isnt healthy, meat is healthy if you eat the right meats and the right quantities...there's thousands of articles online explaining why, you can search on google and find this info in like 5 seconds...when I used to eat meat I was eating way too much processed food and processed meat and way too put fat and cholesterol.

On top of all that, I also like eggs and fish very much...I've always prefered seafood like smoked haddock/king prawns/lobster over beef/fish fingers lol.

Also eggs and fish are cheap too compared to most meats.

Yeah I watch documentries all the time on this sort of stuff...we need to come together as a world and seriously help our oceans, theres so much more we could be doing, I think instead of fighting wars we should have no part of we should use our navy to patrol the seas and defend our oceans against illegal fishing of sharks/whales and long-lining. Sickens me some of the things I've seen...

No human being on this planet has the right to kill a whale or a shark, same goes for lions/tigers on land...most beautiful creatures in the solar system, not even god has the right to take them away.

EDIT: And for people poring toxic waste into the oceans, they should be executed for crimes against humanity, I see that as straight terrorism.

EDIT 2: I also think we shouldnt be taking oil from under the oceans, because every now and again something goes wrong and then hundreds of thousands of barrels of oil get spewed out into the oceans, and I just think thats wrecking the planet so much. Every being on earth depends on the oceans, yet we're destroying the oceans...this makes no sense, and we dont seem to be doing enough about it.

No human being has a right to kill a whale, shark and other animals, yet you eat 210 eggs a week which undoubtedly come from battery farmed chickens living in squalid conditions?

You could make some sort of argument about every type of fish/seafood I eat aswell as eggs...I'm not sure what type of eggs I eat but I'm planning on switching from buying whole eggs in trays to egg whites in cartons which are actually Free-range.

Not quite sure why you would post such a comment tho...attacking me...am pretty sure most of the country if not whole world eat eggs...So you attacking me on this forum just seems rather strange...I could comment on you eating beef or whatever. There's cruelty to all kinds of animals...I'm happy to eat egg whites and fish but I'd still never hurt a whale/shark/tiger/lion/elephant etc.

EDIT: Also if there is cruelty being done to chickens then whatever organisation in this country charity/goverment should deal with those people, thats not my fault is it? it's not my responsability...if I owned a farm I would look after my animals, those people that dont are cruel and should go jail.

EDIT 2: You could go round in circles for hours about this kind of stuff tho...for example, I disagree with everyone over in japan/china eating shark-fin-soup...because they believe that sharks dont get sick, when in actual fact that they do, they get canca and different types of diseases just like humans...so those people that eat shark-fin-soup are misinformed and they're in a sense voting with their wallet like I'm voting with my wallet when I eat my egg whites. - I don't know if you've watched a documentary on this, theres been many...fisherman catch sharks with long lines etc and cut off their fins and then throw the sharks back in, the sharks fall to the bottom of the sea and then drown. It's really sad. And they're the top predator in the oceans and the most vital part of the eco system in our oceans.

Whatever floats your boat and all but you must realise to any outside observer your moral/ethical/taste-based position is complete nonsense given what you will and won't eat :p

I get the pescetarian stuff, that scaly oily fish aren't as cutesy as fluffy bunny wabbits and doe-eyed moocows but then munching through battery-farmed eggs makes a complete mockery of that especially refusing to eat chicken at the same time. :p

This thread has gone in a strange direction...but guess that was inevitable on general duscision.

All I can say to your comment is this...if I went fishing and caught a fish out at sea, I'd be willing to eat that fish...if I went to Africa and someone said "hey you want to go hunt a lion" I'd say no...thats what I believe in, I'll eat a fish, but I wont touch larger animals...I think thats fair play.

EDIT: It makes me laugh all the comments that everyone has posted regarding what I eat, why I eat, and my morals...maybe every single person that post in this thread should post weather or not they eat meat/fish/eggs and what their stand points are...before they go judging others...think its quite hypercritical of you all.

EDIT 2: This thread started because I asked a question "Is there a shortage with sardines?" lol....and not a single person gave any information...instead its just been 3 pages of people asking why I eat 210 eggs and 30 tins of sardines per week...I explained why and since then people have just attacked me...to those people, I say take a look in the mirror before you judge others. This is end of thread for me...admins can delete thread if they want coz its been pointless/waste of time.

Not criticising, just seems a weird choice and not really rational - especially the not eating chicken part as the majority of your reasoning seems in sync with those who just avoid red meat for health reasons and fluffy cuteness reasons - normally in my experience chickens are fair game to them (and it doesn't seem like you care too much about chickens!).

Tbh I'd get it if you just said "I just don't want to eat mammals or birds" it's the attempt to dress it up as some moral decision which exposes it to charges of hypocrisy and suchlike :p

But in response to OP there are some reports I've read that put the health of fish stocks worldwide well below that of oil even, 'peak fish' so to speak is well gone by all accounts and we just keep on sucking them all out of the ocean until it seems there won't be any left.

If anything globally, eating chickens is probably more ethical than eating fish when you consider the relative scarcity.

Yeah, this is what I was getting at. I wasn't attacking you OP, but the opinions you hold are slightly odd given the food you choose to eat. :p

What animals do you eat?
