First 2 videos in my Starcraft 2 Quick Tips series

Day[9]'s videos are great but an hour daily is sometimes too much of a commitment...

The aim of these videos is to provide a short insight to an aspect of the game. A tip, or strategy!

What I do in the video isn't perfect, but use it as a guideline :)

Played SC2 for few months, liked the units and how u need to macro. Was top of my dev in 1:1 and 2:2, and very proud! :D will be going back to it once rig is back online

Just started playing this game again after a short break of two weeks and gosh... it's stressful! My first game, I got cannon rushed and thought "argh silly mistake"... Next game I lose to an early terran push as I messed up my build order really badly... 3rd game, I got cannon rushed again! Then the guy starts sending me cocky messages after (I didn't BM him at all)... I've finally started winning a few games now but every time I do, I feel like I've completely outplayed them other than a few small mistakes. I guess this is how people normally feel though?

What league you in? I'm up to high silvers and I never get cheesed anymore, people learn that generally it's a risk that wont pay off, plus if you get ranked up based on cheese you wont actually be all-round experienced enough to stay at that rank. Don't worry too much about it, when someone uses a risky tactic like rushes they're at a disadvantage if you defend doing a normal build, just do your best to learn how to scout it out, knowledge is key.

just learn how to scout these rushes, and how to deal with them, that way you can pretty much beat them every time. once you move up the ranking a bit you will get these tactics less and less

getting a bored of the game now....no passion to play it anymore really.
taking a break...............................................................................honest.

I cheese all the time in plat, my fav cheese at the moment is fast cloaked ghosts vs toss simply scan his base for the OBS, snipe it out then spend the next few minutes killing probes while he sits there waiting for his next obs to finish.

Finally got a decent build order sorted for a FE as terran. I know i'm only in bronze league (8th) but I have very little time to play with work and family.

I managed to win 7 from 7 the other day with a one rax, FE, 3 more rax's build. If you can hold off the initial small push (which should be ok with 2 bunkers protecting the FE), then the economy goes nuts after about 11 mins and you can push with a fairly large MMM ball knowing that you can produce the same ball in about 2 mins off 4/5 rax's due to 2 bases fully saturated.

Does anyone think SC2 will ever take off competitively in the UK??
I'd love to go watch some, and ofcourse meet day9 mainly ;D

it would be good if it took off in the UK, I would like to see some tournaments here in the UK.

I think another ocuk tournament/league needs to be arranged :D

The way total biscuit and dApollo did the invitational yesterday its only a matter of time. They are casting at the next multiplay lan iirc. Its only a matter of time before it does, and with big names like them pushing the esport its only gunna grow. but it needs the fans to be open about playing, showing the game off, getting it know and yes it will get big. Its only a matter of time before it blows up.

I hope you are right.
I'd make the effort to go to england to watch some especially if the casters were decent.

Sod going to Sweden and stuff thought with no income.

EDIT: So who does everyone want to win at MLG?

Going to go for Destiny.

Just seen this LOL

I'm properly getting back in to this now with Terran. I decided that Protoss 4gate cheese is no more for me and I'd attempt to play properly. :p

I'm about mid silver at the moment. I really wish I would have kept on playing from release but Starcraft is a weird game for me (more used to be now though). I really wanted to keep playing it and get back in to it, but it's just really stressful and I get sort of scared of playing a 1v1? :p I'm fine with FPSs so maybe it's that I'm just scared of doing really badly instead of with FPSs where I can play to a fairly good standard with most of them off the bat. Maybe it's the pressure from a 1v1 game. I don't know. :p

I have pretty good concept of how to play from sticking with watching the GSLs a lot, but I just lack practice.

The thing with the British Starcraft scene, we haven't really got many standout players that are that well known internationally (DeMuslim is most famous that comes to mind), so that might have something to do with it. Although it might be that because we lack a decent Starcraft scene we don't have many internationally renowned players. Either way I'd go to a big British tournament just to spectate for sure if it attracted a lot of decent names. :D

I'd love to try and play 1v1 but there is just too much pressure for me. Haven't played for ages and I have been watching Total Biscuit and really want to restart. Anyone want practice with me?
