having a dispute at work, been a manly man i dont know the correct catagory for nail varnish and would like to know if its classified as makeup!

Well, words have intersubtive meaning and so first you must define 'make-up' and then see if nail varnish fits this definition. Unfortunately catagories like 'make-up' do not exist in any objective fashion and so there is no absolute answer.

This is called a 'narrow definition' under this definition nail varnish would not be considered 'make-up'

We can see that under this broader definition nail vanish can be classified as 'make-up'.
