On July 27, 2011 EA had announced that The Old Republic broke EA's record for the highest number of pre-orders in their history, allotting over 200,000 reservations in the six days since pre-orders began

I care more about what type of server rather then light/dark...just because I always hated PVP in wow and getting ganked whilst levelling...or even at max level I also hated being ganked...so really would only prefer to play on PVE...I dont care about anything else just that one factor.

As for factions though, I've been a star wars fan all my life and always thought I'd love to be a jedi in the star wars universe...but now this game is here for some strange reason the sith look cooler to me lol, which is why I choose horde when I played wow also...its surprising coz I really thought I would want to be a jedi but sith look so much better and I've heard people say the sith side story lines are better too.

You know regarding pre-orders, I think that there is more people that just go out and buy the game after release then there is people that pre-order, for me personally I never even heard about pre-orders before this game. And I've never pre-ordered a game before this game ever before.

So even though 200k for pre-orders look impressive, there could be over a million buys of TOR in first week after release.
 
I think there will probably be closer to 2/2.5 million, considering the marketing clout behind the game and the fact it's Star Wars.
Didn't Warhammer sell over a million at launch?

Problem is with the swtor forums is once one person says it, everyone else begins to repeat it without checking the source and this particular tidbit of information is now gospel on the forums, everyone firmly believes there will be no open beta, all from a fault in a statement.

Why would there be a closed beta very near release? There's already a closed beta.
His wording was a little off, if he meant that there would only be a closed beta up to release that's not how you tell people. You say "There will only be a closed beta up to release! :p

He also mentioned they can't do a traditional open beta because of how many people want to play, I expect these are what the Saturday weekend play sessions are/or will be, sessions for all to try who've subscribed or pre-ordered.. Make of this what you will.

So why did you pick a PvP server when you played WoW? Didn't you realize you were open to being jumped if you gamed on a PvP server? Its PvP for crying out loud, what else did you expect on a PvP sever? People kowtowing in front of you before they fight you?

PvP all the way, ganking, ganking and more ganking, town raids, griefing whatever, bring it on, its more fun then questing. I just hope there is an area that will be similar to Southshore and Tareen Mill, thats where the real world PvP started in WoW.

If OCUK go Empire, I will be making certain that I will have all you Imperial scum on my hitlist.
