Dying for a Drink

I always try watch how much I drink, had a few too many a couple of times but nothing serious. The main trouble for me though is, having a night out with friends and other excessively drunk people causing trouble, looking for fights. This turns a friendly night out into a hostile situation which needs to stop (but will never).

Sadly my best friend and I attempted something called 'the gauntlet' which consisted of drinking around 25 units everyday, 52 days running. I ended up hospitalised with glandular fever and and awful chest infection. Though I was informed that the way I drank was probably less damaging than bingeing every other Friday night.

Needless to say I don't drink that much anymore.

How far in did you get?

Always drink a very large amount, but only when the time scale allows. Binge drinking is the worst and yes, I have fallen victim to getting too drunk but never ended up in A&E. Thankfully the drunken me just goes all miserable if I get too much drink!

But overall, I know my limits. As high as they are, I know them.

I've once had to call an ambulance on a night out - but that was because we suspected I may have been slipped something I didn't ask for in a drink of mine :p

I think it's definitely getting a problem for young people - I hate to think what it'll be like in ten years time if getting completely out of your head wasted if still socially acceptable :p

When I was about 14 the Police picked me up (literally) and took me to hospital.

I learned my lesson and it potentially changed my life as I wasn't allowed to hang about with the idiots I had been hanging about with.

No. Have woken up lying in my own vomit. Once was enough.

I've done that a couple of times, but have long since learned my lesson. It's been about two years since I was sick with alcohol at all, and a long time since I've had a hangover. I guess I must be growing up...

I've once had to look after a friend who ended up being taken to hospital. Fun times.

Never been to hospital for myself but have:

1: Called 999 on millenium new years eve for a friend that went white and unconcious for about half an hour. We genuinely thought he had died. Ambulance never came due to busyness of the evening as you can imagine.

2: Went to hospital with a mate who when drunk slammed a shot glass down too hard onto the table and it shattered and cut up his hand and wrist. He was very drunk and also had an asthma attack. lol. We took him home to his parents at about 3am and had to get his parents up who answered the door to see my mate in a wheel chair with his arm taped up. It was funny to be fair.

Nope. I've spent more than enough nights on the other side, trying to sort out drunken people on a Friday or Saturday that I'd never drink that much myself.

never been so drunk to pass out or go to hospital or even be carried out of anywere.

have been sick once in my younger years and had a couple of bad hangovers, but now i drink plenty of water before bed and have a bite to eat and if i wake up in the night i drink as much water as i can before going back to sleep. has never failed me so far.

I'm nearly 25, did my years of drinking to much and making a *** of myself, haven't had a drink in over a year now, just don't see the point! I can have fun without being drunk :)

I've never had a fight or injury with alcohol. On one occasion though, I lost 5 hours of memory from 23:00, then remembering very briefly at 04:00 that I was going to bed. It was the first time I went to the Arches nightclub in Glasgow and I missed the entire experience :-(

No, the only reason I'd ever go to hospital because of drink is either drugs or some sort of crazy allergic reaction or something.

To get so drunk you'd need to go to hospital is, well, pathetic.

I like a drink, who doesn't but never been in hospital from a night out drinking, I only started drinking around 17/18 and it was never on the street corner or a park, cant wait to watch this and see how bad the problem has become. Even when I go out, I know when I have had enough and can pretty much remember everything and never cause trouble.

Has anyone on here been admitted to hospital in a comatose state or been in a fight.

Don't you stay in, get drunk and abuse people on forums?

Been horrifically drunk before (lots of pints and a litre of vodka being the last time). Ends up badly, so just don't see the point in it.

Problem with me is that I need a good few drinks to losen up, and my tolerance is unfortunately very high, so I straddle the border of being "not that drunk" to ****ed as a newt. :(

Never been a big drinker, my friends generally are though. They are the kind of people that like to go to quiet pubs in the country and taste all the different ales. They seem to enjoy drinking for the taste but also love to get drunk and have shots..I'm not like that at all lol. Don't get me wrong, I've been drunk and all that but ever since I've joined the gym I've become so health aware and stopped drinking completely!

Whenever we go out they always try and get me to drink and try to buy me shots but I never do it! Can't stand spirits at all! I can actually have a good time without drinking so I'm glad I can do that, a few of my mates seem to think they can only have fun on a night out if they're completely wasted..glad I'm not like that though :p
