*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

I asked on the official forum about preorder codes and whether I needed to replace my SE code with my new CE code in my account. This is the official answer that clears up a few other things around here e.g. early access -

That's a shame to hear, I have no doubt by the time I receive and use my retail key I'd have missed out on use from the collector stuff and VIP shop stuff, sure I can still use the rest from current level onwards.

But if I paid for CE edition, I want those CE items from the moment I log in.
Seems we won't on headstart, another score for the useless lemmings at bioware/ea/whoever decides these things.

They may seem minor issues but issues none the less, of which many are starting to stack up and no doubt more to come.

Regardless though, it will have nothing to do with how good/bad the game is, just the way things are handled currently, especially customer reps.

You do seem to be looking for a reason to be annoyed?

If they do as Rift did regarding CE's, everyone in the headstart had access to everything, and it was only on deadline day to enter your CE/Standard key when this was filtered down to those who'd paid for it.

By the way the VIP shop was listed as dynamic iirc, so I expect it retains it's usefulness regardless of level. I'll never find out though, I've gone with the cheap version ;)

You will be able to use your CE stuff from day one?

I think the difference with the SE and CE code was with CE you got 5/7 days head start and with SE you got 3 days, now they saying its all the same!

You will not miss out on anything, the CE vendor will be there all the time and I would imagine that they would update it with new stuff on patch days etc.

Not sure why you are annoyed?

I think the new beta cake website sucks, the theme/skin hes using is like a default theme which comes with the software you install into the website, I know because I've used that kind of stuff before...people usually use those themes as a temporary theme but its been on for days now lol.

Just looks cheap and tacky especially with all the crap little gadgets down the sides.

...Just read latest leak tho on betacake:

There's a couple people than claim to have gotten their hands on some Star Wars posters which have a release date on them. (took the guild's link down)

The date being 25/11/2011

Let the speculation begin !

I should mention that we've seen countless dates, ranging from September 1st to December 15th, so please, use some common sense and understand that all pre-order websites use placeholder dates.
For all we know this date might be the real one, but it could also mean its just a planned date which was missed.

I'm not looking for a reason, there is a reason.

However I am not as annoyed as you seem to think, It's more a disappointment (when I said it was a shame) also that

It isn't just this one small thing that's grinding my gears, it's other things too.

It helps to read the part (or read the post at all) "and all you'll need to do at launch to get your bonus items is to tie the deluxe edition/Collectors Edition code to the account you've been using all along"

Meaning, you need a retail/release NOT PREORDER key to get bonus content, because you won't have it on pre-order codes.

So you have people who paid £130 for a CE but have a SE pre-order key, how on earth does it know to give you CE content? Simply, it cannot.

If you read my post ;) Rift had the same issue. For the headstart, every key was given all the goodies available. Once accounts were updated with a release key, the items that weren't relevant were removed. That way no one lost out at all.

Don't know if they'll do it this way, but if they haven't been issuing different keys then they'll have to. If they have, then you get your wish regardless.

Oh no I read that, but it sounds like swtor are doing the opposite thing.
You don't get the extras until you turn in the retail key.

I played rift btw from headstart too, I was unlucky in never getting my items and they responded late to my ticket :(

I read all of it.

All I'm saying is that I'm sure a company like Bioware, will have it sorted out by the time head start starts...

I'm still sticking with 24/25th Nov.

Too much faith have you ;) They've already had some complete **** ups!

Just 20 levels of all my mates having to slow down for me and all that jazz, or whatever the level was for mounts. Minor yes, but why the hell not?

Fair enough pal, it's understandable that since you've been left out in the cold before you don't want to be so again.

Personally I've had more than enough of headstarts & the traumas they cause. I can't remember the last time I actually had pleasure out of one, it's just a laggy mess & a mob campfest usually. I'll still be looking forward to release, just hopefully control my urge to power through the content :)
