Hi all, got a 2500k, cooler, ram, and motherboard on the way, im pretty scrapped for cash after this but do have the use of 2 250 GTS 1GB for SLI, am I likely to be able to play BC2? At 1900x1080, I would love a graphics card and Will get one before BF3 but should I try to find the money now or wait for prices to go down? Id be looking at spending 180
 
Does your new motherboard support SLI ?
If it does, I think 2 X 250GTS will be more than good enough as a 'stop gap' solution and might let you wait until a new series of cards come out, meaning you get more for your money.
Are they 512 or 1GM cards ? Even if 512, still be fine for a few months.
 
I waited up for a few months before I saved enough for a pair of 6950's by just using a pair of 9800gtx+ cards, which are possibly on a par with those 250GTS cards. The only games I really hit any issues with at 1080p were those that require allot of VRam (gta4, JC2 etc) as they were only 512mb cards.

So all in all I would think you'll be find using those as interim cards until a more permanent solution is found
 
Pretty sure their was 6950's selling for £191.99.... They run BF3 well atleast my Spare PC does, And thats just a 6970 with 930@4Ghz so.. yes.

Hi yep got a MSI SLI board for my 2500k, unfortunately not from here as the price gap was considerable, and they are the 1gb 250 gts, only problem is how does dx10 bc2 look verus dx11?
 
IMO the Dx10 vs Dx11 differences are only subtle, especially in a high action game like BC2, usually you'd be that immersed in the gameplay that you wouldn't notice any major differences with regards to directX
 
6870 should be fine, as single cards there only ~5fps behind a single 6950, while in CF they average about ~10fps behind 6950's, drop the AA off a little in BC2 and you should hit 60fps without much hassle on a single card.

Spare system can max it out totally and it's just a HIS 6970, core i7 930 @4.oGhz 6 gig of ram etc, The FPS on the outdoor test map is around 50+ and inside the subway map it's wellover 70+.

My main rig in the Sig runs it at into the 100+ at alltimes, I can't wait to they optimize the game, It looks much better then BC2 also, If you really want i'll take some screens of me dieing none stop Lol, So you can have a look at the detail.

Sounds good yeah love to see some screens! I built my Sig rig with the sole purpose of hitting 60 fps on bf3 so I'm over the moon that should be easily achieved, I was dreading another metro-esq rig killer lol
 
The game server page appears to be down at the moment, I'll keep trying to get on and take some pictures of the grahpics with 8AA :) max settings 8)
