Hey guys and girls,

After a lot of trial and error I have successfully released my first android application. It is a very simple trick, you can check it out here:

My app

Basically, I am after some feedback. I need more people using newer (2.2+) versions of android to download it.

If you fancy helping me out could you kindly post back what version of android/phone you are running/have and whether or not there are any problems running this. Specifically, there is aproblem with my animation. I have tested it myself on the emulator but it is a total pig to run on my laptop, this could be the root of the problem. It seems to be sporadically pausing part way through explosions.

Also, if anyone using any of the mini SE androids wants to give this a go that would be great. It is all set up to run on a ldpi screen, but I have no idea if it will actually (a) install and (b) run. The only person I know with one has no inclination to use the market, much to my annoyance.

General feedback, constructive criticism and ideas are all very welcome too. I am currently attempting to redesign the graphics, but as you can easily tell from the screenshots I am a bit rubbish with colours and design.

@mods: I hope the thread is okay in this forum, apologies if it needs to be moved.

Cheers :)

Just tried it on SGS2 running VillainRom 2.4.2 (Android 2.3.4).

Animations etc seem to be working fine.

'Tis quite a cool idea, will probably keep it installed to annoy a few friends :D.

The only bad point I found was that each time you press back it goes to the last "game", so if you've done it 10 times you have to press back all those times to quit.

Tried it on Galaxy Tab 10.1 (Android 3.1):

Only runs in landscape mode.

Not running 1280x800 so the androids, etc. are a bit chunky.

Due to the incorrect resolution the back button and ad appear just below the android line.

Animations work ok.

Cheers guys :)

I have a fix for this, it will be in the next update. I was intending to wait until I had redone the graphics to release the patch but maybe I should push it straight out, it is kinda annoying to have to go back through all those screens.

Nice, downloaded to Desire running stock (HTC) 2.2
...works nice, but agree with the Back button thing ;)

Think this might win me a few drinks....."bet I can guess 3 times on the bounce" :p

Galaxy Tab (Android 2.3.3)

Not running 1024×600 so the androids, etc. are a bit chunky.

Animations ok.

Nexus S (Android 2.3.4)

Animations ok.

San Francisco (Cyanogenmod 7 - Gingerbread 2.3.5)

Working fine. Great concept too. Unique, I've personally seen nothing like it.

This!

Exactly this!

It is a good 'drive your mates mad' pub-game idea :)

Works OK on my ASUS Transformer running 3.2 (with Zoom to fill screen option)

Some sound effects might be nice.

I don't yet have an android tablet, which makes it hard to develop for them. If I get time I will look into adapting it.

I have released an update that should sort out the back button history.

@POB: Sound effects would be cool, I will look into it!

Not sure it is entirely your laptop at fault here because the emulator runs like an absolute dog on my quad core desktop :p

Same here, runs much slower than my actual phone. 3.55Ghz Q6600 here lol.

Also, what sort of graphics help do you need? The worst thing about the app IMO is the fact that the Droids are too fat lmao, and you've used the wrong colour. That's an elementary mistake there. :(

Made these for ya, official colour and correctly proportioned :)

Yeah it is a tad ridiculous really because the emulators I run for other platforms run fine  I originally thought it was a problem somewhere on my machine but I'm beginning to doubt that :p

Really good effort on those images. I know they are not for me but do you think they might look a little better with sunken numbers rather than "sticky out"? Kinda like they were stamped on or engraved onto the droids.
