its going to be better than IP4, and thats all we need to know :D

Yes, but by a huge difference? maybe not = you wasting money and trying to get in the "Hey Look at me I got a Iphone 5 gang" when you dont even really need it.

but hey, its not worse than those Ipad fools selling there Ipad's just to get the Ipad2, that annoys me even more.

Dont see what your beef is with this, if people have the money and want to get an ip5 regardless of having an ip4 for 6months, 1 year, 2 weeks, so be it,

chill out Jimz, ask santa for one, you never know

How. All my examples have been common sense

If i had a Iphone 4 i wouldnt be getting ready to sell it just because the Iphone 5 is coming out. I dont even know the Spec for the Iphone 5 yet so why commit to something so much before i dont even know anything about it.

Looking a hardware tech these days from when the Iphone 4 came out there hasnt been much of a HUGE difference in what phones can do, so the Iphone4 is and still will be on top of its game for along time.

As for people who have and use a Ipad which works perfectly fine as it is then suddenly seeing the Ipad2 is out which is basicly the EXACT same as the Ipad then seeing people sell it just so they can pay extra money for something that does the same does my head in beyond words

Long story short - you got an iPhone 4 for your 12th birthday last week and have to keep it for 2 years. So you're desperately trying to play down the next iPhone.

It's pretty funny really :D

As someone said earlier, you're jealous of what you can't have and it isn't even out yet, haha!

Selling it now makes far more sense than after the 5 comes out if you're upgrading, you'll get a fair bit more money for it.

It's also reasonable to assume what the iPhone 5 will be like given the competition and the rumours going around.

The iPhone hasn't been on top for some time specs wise (usability is another thing, but not really relevant here). The new one should see a big increase in CPU and GPU speeds, dual core for improved battery life, an improved camera, larger screen etc.

They aren't the same though, one is thinner, has a longer battery life, much faster, cameras. People who did upgrade probably only paid £100-150 to do so after selling their old iPad.

Can y'all please cut this **** out? If you want to start a 'merits of upgrading from an iPhone 4' thread feel free. This is the 'iPhone 5 speculation/rumours/wants' thread.

how is selling my iphone4 while it is worth its maximum value ''committing to something''

i will sell my iPhone 4 in the next few weeks then when the 5 comes out i either have the option to buy the 5 , or the option to buy a cheaper iPhone 4 (because values will plummet and 1000s will be selling)

it gives me options

you have no options

and going back to the 4 might end up being what i do if any of these mockups have any truth.

so what does everyone here think the realease date will be?

The more I see/hear the more I think it's going to be first week of October. I think they're going to announce mid-September then have a solid three weeks of hype-building wait before it goes on sale.

If it was to debut in September, I kind of feel like we would have heard something a wee bit more substantial by now. I get the impression they're working out kinks in iCloud/OS5 and so want to make sure it will all dovetail with the iPhone 5 from day one.

well ive just not long got off the phone from O2
the lady told me they are talking late October / November
apple will give them info a month before hand, and they have heard nothing yet ( so she said )

Never believe what the O2 lady says.

Well I managed to get my hands on a temporary Android handset for the time being, my contract is up and T-Mobile offered me an iphone 4 for £20.52 per month on upgrade (18 months) which is £5 more than I pay now.

I asked about the iphone5 and the guy said nothing other than he knows it'll be out this year, and that tarrifs were reduced and prices have come down since sales were flagging a bit month on month from last year.

I figure that they'll offer me the iphone 5 for the same or a little more, so I'll wait for one of those and flog it to some sucker for £550-650 depending on availability, then buy something like a Nexus 3 or whatever and use the £200 change to pay off half my contract. :)

I use my iPhone 4 for almost everything, brilliant piece of kit. Copied all my books (pdf files) on there and although the screen is crystal clear and sharp, the text is just too small. A double tap zooms in ever so slightly to make it much better but if only this had a slightly bigger screen! I am just waiting on the iPhone 5 specs and as soon as the screen size is confirmed, it will either be the 5 next for me or I will move over to android for the first time.

My contract is up in November so I'm hoping it's a few weeks before that then hopefully there will be more stock around, can't be bothered chasing and queuing for it.

Indeed. CPW guy told me they get a few days' notice. Knowing Apple's past habits, I'm more inclined to believe this.

I hope it isn't November. I need a new phone (yes, need - I'm currently having to use two phones made circa 2007 to keep me going). I almost got an iP4 the other day and I'm still considering an iPod Touch.

PS - Comparing battery against the iPad doesn't work. The only issue with the iPad is how heavy you want to make the battery - it's not exactly lacking in space for one (even with that bigger screen to power).

One thing I'm surprised at is that we still haven't seen phones with solar cells on the back to boost battery life.

Because most people's phones are kept in dark pockets or bags. It'd be a waste of space even if people's habits of keeping their phone in such places weren't accurate, solar is very inefficient and you could only fit small cells on it.

Not only would that be adding unnecessary bulk to the phone, it'd be for very little effect.
