Hi,

I'm trying to spec a budget PC for friends. They haven't got a lot cash but we are looking at about 250-300 quid max. The good thing is it only needs the PC, no windows or monitor or accessories.

This is purely a home use PC, some internet, movies, etc. and maybe a little bit of World of Tanks gameplay, but the res is rather small - 1360x766.
No heavy multitasking or anything too extreme really, next upgrade probably will be in a year or two.

I was thinking about Llano but the availability is poor and the price seems quite high as well.
Maybe a Phenom II x4 with 4GB of ram and a ~40quid gfx would be ok?

I mostly follow higher end components so excuse the ignorance :)

Thanks for help!

if you went with the above it would leave enough cash for a nice gfx card

what about the case,psu,hdd,optical drives?

I3 unlocked

That will be a great chip - it should run cooler than an I5 so it might be a cheap way of pushing for 5ghz with a decent cooler.

Any news on the release dates of that chip?

Why? is there anything power hungry in these spec;):D

And at least its all in stock:D

It certainly beats speccing a dead end AM3 system.

i3 2100 vs tri 450 - http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/289?vs=189

And a 6670 card is better than what Llano has got - http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/A8-3850_Fusion_GPU_Performance/13.html

So £300, faster CPU, faster graphics, and more future proof.
