Sony Ericsson Android XPERIA

I take it this thread is for all models of the Xperia then or is it just for the 'Arc'?

It's upgrade time for me, and i've always liked my SE phones. Is it worth getting the Arc, or are any of the newer phones (Ray) going to offer more?

Currently have the Satio which has been good for Photos and watching movies etc, but rather rubbish for anything involving apps to the point i gave up on it and just used it mainly as a multimedia device/phone. Trying to steer clear of the iPhone as i already have access to one as a work phone.

There is a thread for the Arc and also the Play somewhere.

If you can get a cheap x10 you can get some good speed and battery life out of it with some of the custom ROMS.

I don't know much about the Arc or Play or any of the newer phones coming but if I were you I would go and check out some other android handsets as well as the Ray.

Are the apps you can't download apps you have bought? Because I could download some but not all and it only seemed to my paid apps that were affected.

From what I recall, IF this is the problem, you need to uninstall the market update that you can find in "settings>applications>manage applications" then after that run the market again and then exit it and then it should update to the new market the next time you start it.

Out of interest which market do you have at the moment?
SNIP

It was all apps I was having the problem with but then the odd app would be fine! It was a strange one.

I went over to the xda forums before and found a thread for the latest market. So now I have updated from 3 to 4 (in your pic above) and everything now seems to work.

thanks for your help, much appreciated.

Going from a Satio to an (up to date) X10 would be a huge leap, to an Arc.....even more so! I had a brief play on an Arc a few weeks back - lovely screen and UI/transitions were very good too. Symbian > Android will be a great switch. If you want to wait until Autumn/Winter - the Duo will be released (big screen, dual core, ample RAM etc).

EDIT - Is the Satio WP7 compatible?

Option or setting that needs turning on?

ive read into it and you need to be connected to a tv using your hdmi lead which allows the home screen to be used in landscape mode. A little silly if you ask me but as to the update i think it's decent and battery seems to be a tad better and overall the handset seems a bit snappier

Might hold out for the Duo, seems to keep the things i like about the Satio (Camera!) but add some other decent stuff on top (like a smartphone that works!! :D).

That's what I'm using buddy, bravia engine, fps uncap, and xloud all on stock rooted, cleaned all the useless crappy off it and I'm getting around 24 hours from a full charge, that's running all sorts of stuff, WiFi 24/7, games etc. it did take around 4 days for the Rom to settle and give me the best life.

Knightstalker can you let me know what you removed from the stock rom? is there a list on XDA that I can use? I was on Wolfbreaks ROM, but there were too many updates and minor issues for me so I have also decided to go back to stock 2.3, rooted, fps uncap.

Also does Bravia engine really make a difference? can't say I notice it and I have viewed pictures/videos via the stock media app.

Bravia engine does make a difference, but its very slight, and only works on Pictures viewed in the gallery, i installed it because it makes no difference to battery life .. As for the the things to remove i just removed the Apps and keyboards, but this list might be of use..
Safe to remove:](These apps can be removed without ill effects to the Arc's health.)
