Ban the grammar and spelling nazi's!

Get rid quick Nas

The only 2 spelling errors that really that annoy me are:

Loose instead of lose.
Brought instead of bought.

I'm also not a fan of using the word draw instead of drawer, but I believe that is a regional thing and unfortunately can't be helped.

However, if u typ lyk did den i iz just not gona read it yo.

Just because you take it as a "low blow" and feel butthurt over it doesn't mean that's the intention. If you see someone doing something you know is wrong, you'll at least acknowledge it to yourself, but how is said person to know it's wrong unless they're told that it's wrong?

There's a difference between typos and people getting words wrong. I think there isn't much in the way of excuses for saying things like "brought" when they mean "bought", or "defiantly" when they mean "definitely". They are different words with completely different meanings.

Those that go on about how it's not important to spell correctly "on the internet" are just kidding themselves on how unimportant it is to use their own language properly. I know full well that these people would spell exactly the same if they were applying for a job, for example.

English isn't hard, especially not for those who are native speakers and people who go on about being dyslexic need to stop as well, it's said so often that I ignore most claims of having it as an excuse for poor English.

Just think for a moment how much it annoys you when people correct others, and consider that the "Grammar Nazis" feel the same annoyance when someone clearly can't be bothered putting the tiny bit of effort it requires to use proper English. It's really not hard if you stop being lazy.

Also, stop assuming people will only correct someone as a way of "not losing a debate", that's just an example of someone trying to divert attention elsewhere. I can back up my own debates and arguments whether or not I've corrected someone, and I'm not going to correct someone to divert attention elsewhere, you're just looking for ways you can further complain and belittle those who correct others in pretty much the same way you're complaining about.

were you the kid who sat at the front and "helped" the teacher out, correcting other kids and getting bullied for it?

seriously it's not your job to correct others, you may get some self worth from it, but it's not a true reflection of life... If you were stood next to me in a random location and started correcting my mistakes you would be soon sat on the floor with a black eye.

Hiding behind a keyboard with superior grammar and spelling skills is indeed a low blow.

Please, stop putting spaces before fullstops, I know that wasn't intentional.

why does your forum name not have a capital?

remove the plank from your own eye and so on....

I can see how it might be annoying to some, but I think it's better that we all try to adhere to higher standards in all things.

i agree. we should do the best we can and others should trust that is the case and therefore not draw attention or mock mistakes

The annoying thing about grammar nazis is they think that people actually give a **** about their pedantic antics. I rhymed! If it's that bad they should just get the use out of the ignore button and do us all a favour - no one is going to listen to internet people tell them to improve their mastery of the English language. I certainly don't.

It's just a shame people don't take a little pride in being able to communicate at a level higher than someone who has yet to pass their GCSEs. But, I guess, to each their own, some people don't mind others laughing at their poor language skills.
