Nvidia unofficially, officially caught cheating in Crysis 2

tfh.jpg

Yep you said it, lamb chop...

Crytek and their distributor would have been responsible for testing this before it went out regardless of Nvidia's dabblings. You don't just let a 3rd party **** around with your investment and not check what they did.

Its never going to be proven either way, it can be brushed off as incompetence on Cryteks part but...... looking at the available evidence I would rather be wearing a tinfoil hat than defending Nvidia blindly whilst bending over with my pants round my ankles, like some of you guys.

Haven't seen anyone blindly defending nVidia. There are those absolutely convinced it is nVidia despite lack of any solid evidence, those who think its probably nVidia, those who are saying well it might be but you can't make that accusation without more credible evidence of a link and there are other alternative explanations just as credible and a few just clowning around.

You have understood where the burden of responsibility lies at least though, and as far as this thread is concerned it's all that matters. Nvidia don't ship Crysis 2 - that's the only thing I'll defend.

Its fair enough, if Crytek took money to make the game run worse then they suck and its their responsibility, that I totally agree with. But if Nvidia paid Crytek to do that then they share the same amount of blame whilst also spitting on its own customers.

Now you tell me (if it is true they paid crytek for this) that they are not to blame and you would be happy to still give your money to them.

Edit - Just to make it clear I am not having a go :), just curious.

I imagine if Crytek are confronted about it in a similar fashion to Eidos, they will also say 'we have been advised by our legal team not to discuss this matter'.

TBH yes the concreate barriers i would say is waste and (could) be put there for nvidas advantage, but the water if any one has came across the cryengine 3 sandbox and built on it will know this is something you can NOT change as this is the way all the level are built in the sandbox engine

and i must sy i am NOT a fan of crysis 2 and think the gfx quality is poor bu8t the cryengine 3 sandbox tool is an amazing piece of tech and is free to any one so i say crytech do as you liek as this will supply many people with many hours of extra play after the main campain what other studio do you know which will relase there newest game engine to the public for free just look at ID (yer i am a massive fan off doom and quake) but they have only just released the id tech 4 engine after how many years since the doom 3 release ???

yes it might be a dirty trick by nvida (just like the batman physx) butpeople are not going to pick hardware on one game's performance as i know i wont i only but nvida as the better driver support is a must for me and i know a lot of people pick ATI due to there 'bang for buck' but second hand market nivida 4XX series hold the best bang for buck secong hand due to high heat and noise but and an aftermarket cooler sorts this so its down to prefrence so fan boys pipe down and the people who buy for bang for buck exspect a few problems as you should do if you buying a cheaper product nothing comes for free......

The guys at techreport have mentioned that people with ATI/AMD card can just set the cap on the tessellation limit in CCC, so I don't know why people are crying a river over it. People are treating the "over-use" of tessellation like a murder scene, and try to find out what happened- actually no, they ain't interested in that...all they are interested is that this is a good opportunity to blame it on Nvidia having 'under-table deal' with Crytek. The people at techreport only passed Nvidia 'might be' responsible off as one of the few 'possibilities', yet here people are happily trying to pass it off as facts...despite without any solid supporting evidence.

If you believe the game is using more tessellation than neccessary, just lower it yourself- simple.

Crysis 2 in DX11 rans great for me :)

Don't know why you guys are making such a fuss

my 6970 dips to 15 fps in crysis2 but my gtx480 only dips to 32fps and both running same settings , in any other game my 6970 wipes the floor gtx480 so this is proberly why people are playing up  .
you might not notice this with sli'ed gtx580's

Also, the people at techreport only passed Nvidia 'might be' responsible off as one of the few 'possibilities', yet here people are happily trying to pass it off as facts...despite without any supporting evidence.

The point is you shouldn't have to compensate for others incompetence as the tessellation implemented was not there because of the fact that they knew it could be turned down by being forced through the driver which is a blanket approach & would be better for a tailored slider in the game itself.

As far as evidence in this case its for the individual to decide because if the techreport said that NV was responsible that does not meant that is fact either just because they said so without providing where they got that fact from.

Not having solid evidence does not prove that the person didn't still in fact do it, you just need enough to be beyond reasonable doubt.

And if we believe the game is using more tessellation than necessary ?
Now there is 2 ways of looking at what you said there.

Any just to point out that's its about stupid use of tessellation & not just because NV is in the picture i had already complained about the tessellation in Dirt2 on this forum & specifically on the crowd which really should have not bothered been tessellated because they are poor models & they still look poor with tessellation, so its another example of silly usage but without the silly amount of tessellation .
