Tournament has now finished:
Hello, In light of the previous tournament coming to a close I hereby declare entries to tournament 4 are now open. Please see below for details.
Q+A:
How do i signup?
Signups via this page: http://challonge.com/tournament/signup/7ozeymieav
Your used name should be: SC2NAME, SC2ID, FORUMNAME
Signups close 17 August 2011.
What is the format?
The initial stages result in a swiss style bracket, players will play against 4 opponents scoring points for each win, the top half of the player base (with the most points) will then go into a single elimination bracket event until the winner is found. This will result in more people getting more games and more experience in the intial stages of the tournament and if players miss a game or two it may still mean they progress based on their other 2 wins.
How many rounds do we play per opponent?
it is BO1 , and the finals are BO3
There is zero complaining on this one, 2 previous tournaments now have failed to be completed, a BO1 helps players become more motivated to play a quick game then a commitment to BO3.
What are the time scales with the tournament?
Strict time scales will be imposed, I understand people may be away/and on holiday and that is fine providing notification has been given well in advance.
Any games not played by a time limit result in a loss for the player that has not communicated effectively there situation regarding lateness/lack of play.
Timings as follows:
Signups finish: 17 August
Match group 1: 25 August
Match group 2: 31 August
Match group 3: 7 September
Match group 4: 14 September
Match group 5: 21 September
Match group 6: 28 September
What is the map pool?
M1: MLG Metalopolis
M2: Xel'naga caverns
M3: GSL Bel'Shir Beach
M4: GSL Tal'Darim Altar
M5: CEVO GSL Terminus SE
Why GSL/MLG maps?
Because they are massively superior and more balanced then any **** blizzard pumps out for the normal ladder. You can find them easily through the custom game map pool. Games not played on the appropriate map will result in a draw.
But I dont know map X or map Y?
So practice it vs the cpu maybe?
I am a newb , can i still enter?
If you have the time to play the games then enter, any skill level welcome and its always good practice playing non-ladder games!
How do I find people I need to play against?
check the challonge website for up to date listings, they also get placed here, communicate on these forums times and dates with fellow players OR join the sc2 chat by searching for the chat channel OCUK whilst ingame.
Wheres tournament 3?
Tournament 3 was actually listed as tournament 2 due to an error, however it was tournament 3. So this is tournament 4
My mum/wife told me starcraft 2 was for geeks is this true?
yes
Thankyou and GL!
