2011 A level results day thread

Yep know about the freezing, but im not rushing into it and im still going to apply anyway on the very small off chance. Worth a shot and if i dont ill regret it. My best shots private atm of course so im applying for the BA pilot scheme and also aprenticeships with the likes of siemans etc so just keeping my options open. As i said ideally id like to go in the police but realise at least for this year the chances are minute and ill probably have to wait till im 21 or so.

Edit: and itll be the north east area ill be applying too ahleckz so newcastle, durham, north yorkshire etc, multiple forces basically as im ver open to the idea of moving.

I had a place at UMIST in 2004 (back when Comp Sci at Manchester was good [stokes fire and runs] :)) but failed my A Levels (CDDE) due to too much... drinking and all that other 18 year old stuff.

Went to Salford University instead and had a great time and now I'm in a great job. Its never the end of the world even if you do mess your A Levels up peeps, if its meant to be it'll be.

Congrats to the A-level people here,

A-levels destroyed me when I did them 4 years ago, I struggled to get a C in any subject and yet people here seem to be pulling out A*'s like its nothing, nicely done.

To anyone doing an engineering degree...

:D

Wahey, happy :).

Maths - A*
Further maths - A
Chemistry - A
Physics - A*
Design and Technology (3d des) - A

I was close to A*'s with the chem and DT as well!

Anyway, I'm now all confirmed for going to Durham for general engineering in October :).

UCAS website is a joke I still can't log in...

I know! what a rubbish website... You'd have thought they might anticipate the demand on results day and use some of the administration fee they charge to actually rent a few more servers or something... Ah well, posties been with the confirmation already.

Finally,

I got into Hull and am doing a MEng :)

Thing I don't understand is,

All my life I have not revised a single time, GCSES no revision and I got 9 A's and an A*

AS levels I did no revision and got BBC

A2s I work my arse off try really hard and get CCC?

I should have just not tried. Oh well I'm happy I got in.

They wanted BBB and I got CCC and still accepted me, maybe my track record and my personal statement saved me, I'm happy though.

My sister got:

A: Philosophy
C: Psychology
D: Biology
U: Chemistry
U: Critical Thinking

She was a bit disappointed with the Biology and Chemistry. Biology because she has worked really hard at it and wants to continue it to University and Chemistry because the school managed to lose 6 teachers over the year and it wasn't taught. AS levels these are by the way.

Only AS so not the big ones yet.

I got;

B - Economics. Got an A in Unit 2 and a B in Unit 1. Slightly disappointed I didn't do better in Unit 1 and get an A but oh well.
B - Business Studies. Could have gotten an A but I got lazy. It's Btec and not an A-Level which kind of annoys me as I feel I'd have gotten an A if it was exam and not coursework.
C - General Studies...lol.
D - Not one of my best subjects, even at GCSE. Don't know why I took it :p.
U - Biology. Coundn't have given less of a **** about Biology :D. Gave up like half way through the year.

As you can see, not the greatest but not awful for me :D. Should really pull my finger out next year though.

Good luck to everyone else and **** you to everyone showing off your A and A*s on here :D.

Congratulations to all those who got their results.

I myself got 450 UCAS points, so I am extremely happy with that, couldn't ask for anything more.

Anyone here going to Bournemouth University?

Just got accepted to both Kent and Newcastle uni's, both for computer science. Why couldn't one just accept me, now I gotta go through some moral dilemma figuring out which i should go too.

Damn. I'm confused at the moment.

Chemistry A, Biology A, maths A, further maths A, physics B, critical thinking C

Gutted I was one or two off an A in physics, deffo getting a remark!

I'd much prefer AAAAAC rather than AAAABC

At least I still have a chance of getting into medical school :)

You do realise with just your AS scores you have more UCAS points than I got over two years? How the hell can you be confused.

I'm by no means an expert but why not just look at their rankings for Computer Science, think about whether you want to live closer to London or closer to Newcastle/Liverpool/Manchester, maybe see which is closer to your family, and whether you want the better party scene in Newcastle or the most likely more peaceful Kent (Although not sure about this part, never been and is based purely on pictures of the area :p). Also maybe take into account the better weather in Kent :p?
