Thailand or Japan for a holiday

If you like your chinese girls tall, leggy with model looks then Harbin is the place to be.

lol really? And how would you know? Only reason I came aware of HArbin was it has an ice/snow festival. I thought looked cool..Plus they have soem nice russian and European type architecture oddly

For those few that have been to Thailand can you give me some recommendations of places to see up in the North around Chiang Mai/Rai and along the way up there. Can stop off on the bus/train up there can't you for a few places.

Also places in the south, I know of Krabi, phuket, Ko phan etc.. the National park and all. Just looking for things to do maybe tour wise/trek. Got 27 days to fill up.

*edit*

I am also looking for a backpack and recommendations on shoes for wearing out there being told a sport sandal style thing will be ideal had a bunch of bookmarks that seem to have disappeared :(

I went to islands on south East...not Krabi and phuket the other side.

Khpangan they have a full moon party and at the south of the island there is loadsa young folk and bars and beach parties almost every day but full moon party only once a month or so? I think. Well I went the week of full moon party and if you like music and parties and stuff its the pale to be..However I stayed at north of island which was totally tranquil, complete opposite lol...

I also went To koh Samui which IMO was quite quiet island not much excitment but decent beach and decent isladn to explore.

KOh Tao I went by on the feryy looked amaizng aparetny ts one of the best scuba diving sies in Thailand/world. ANd its very chllled but beautiful island not so much party.

If you havent heard of Pattaya you should check that out, 1-2 hours south of Bangkok. Its mad. Its a city off bars, clubs, gogos and like 50, 000 Hookers lol....Just a huge open air brothel lol. You have to see it once whether you like it or not.

Everything in life is easy in Thailand. Food is abundant, people are chilled out and friendly, everyone helps everyone and there's no theft.

There is a lot of theft in Thailand , in one day I spoke to 3 different groups about handbags snatched ,wallet and iPod.

That was just on one occasion ,plently of petty thefts in guest houses.
Its not dangerous so to speak but to say there is no theft ..... is just plain wrong :)

I'd definitely recommend going to Pai in the Mae Hong Son province (its about 4 hours from Chiang Mai by minibus), it's a sort of... "indie" town with a really nice atmosphere, very few tall buildings, lots of beautiful mountain roads that are great on a motorbike and devoid of traffic.

If you fancy riding elephants, I recommend the Taweechai Elephant Camp in Kanchanaburi, only about 2 hours from BKK, so you can see the bridge over the river kwai and a very nice elephant camp (I am biased as I lived there, lol).

It's the average rose-tinted view of the country that people come back with after a 2 week holiday. Funny how much it differs from the views of people who've lived there for years!

Though having said that I lived there for 13 months and was never robbed.

I was even warned by people that my passport or moeny could even be robbed from the hotel safe..wtf!!

Obviously I was warned I could be robbed by cleaners in my hotel..SO off course I put most valuables in hotel safe. But people suggesting the hotel would steal form me, sounds a but OTT?!?!

Yeh the hotel workers told me they work like 7 days a week lol

But if you cant have your credit cards, money or passport safe even in the hotel safe what can you do?

I bought some padlocks and bags with zips to padlock..so only by destroying bag could you access it. So, off course it could still be stolen. Even if I hid it under mattress or some place behind mini fridge etc..but it would be impossible to quickly rob contents.

yeh thats whats great about thailand you can get by on a daily basis very cheap. AS I say I could budget so I could spend 1 month in thailand at what would prob cost 1 week in Japan.

As for passport I dont like to carry that with me...I also never have much cash on me and only was withdrawing 100 quid a time but then you have to pay every tiem you make a withdrawl so thats annoying.

How much did you take with you to start? Obviously going to need some for taxi/food etc..

Did you just use a credit card whilst there? Thinking of just taking mine but I know I get charged a small fee for cash withdrawls from it.

I don't know what the current rate from nationwide is, but last time I checked they charged a 1.5% transaction fee for using your debit card abroad, which was quite reasonable... Having said that I remember banks had started introducing ATM fees on the Thai side...

Otherwise... take a money belt and wear it under your shirt?

I took partially nothing. You can buy clothes over there too real cheap.

I think I maybe had 50-100 quid worth of baht on me on the plane I bought at home? Then I would every few days or whenever I ran out off money take out bout 7500-10000 baht 100 to 150 quid at the time.

Before I went I got a good card tha had cehap rates for wihtdrawign money aborad so it worked out not so bad but you need to wacth some banks charge you crazy amounts.

Also I rarely used machines ATM as I think thats extra as well. I would go the Thai banks and withdraw the money. I d think I uses my current account card not a credit card tbh though I had both with me.

Ok, please note i'm speaking in general terms alright?

I've dated both Northern and Southern Chinese girls and they all tell me the same thing. That the Southern Chinese girls are generally shorter and jealous of the Northern Chinese girls because they're much taller. Of course as a race the Chinese are naturally very slim, so that comes with long legs and less rounder faces. Last ex gf was from Harbin and she was simply stunning and looked like a cover model, even my parents simply couldn't understand how i bagged that one! Alas curcumstances were't great for us so we didn't stay together. My present gf comes from a town near Hong Kong. She much shorter but i would say her looks are 'cuter/sweeter' if you get my meaning.

I travelled round Thailand, so I would definitely recommend there.

Sun, Sea, Sand, as well as many cities to visit etc, perfect place to go. As well as VERY cheap booze :)
You're also likely to get hit on by HOT Thai girls as they think everyone with light skin is rich haha
