Ridley Scott Directing new Blade Runner film

Old-man Ford did his best to ruin Indie for me. Keep him away from Deckard!

Bladerunner is a classic, it doesn't need a remake/sequel/reboot. But if anyone's going to do it then I'd prefer it was someone new so they could put a different perspective on things.

Never understood the hype over the first one... thought it was really average to be honest. Perhaps it was more influential or original than it was interesting.

One of the reasons I love BR is the intro. The synths, flying over the city, flames bursting into the sky, it creates a great atmosphere. Dark, ominous, futuristic. Good story, great performances.

They are not allowed to remake it. The rights for the franchise don't allow it.

This could be good. I suspect it might a film adjacent to the original the way Prometheus is to Alien, but it's far too early to tell. No writer attached, no story, no actors attached...just Scott saying he's going to do it.

It came at a time when Cyberpunk was starting to take off as a genre. I think William Gibson even said he was only partly through writing Neuromancer and went to see Blade Runner and said (paraphrasing) "wtf everyone is going to think I ripped off the Blade Runner style". It was a big shift at the time in sci-fi writing with the likes of Gibson's Neuromancer and Rudy Rucker's Software books. And you had Manga's like Akira and films like Burst City coming out in the early 80s from Japan as well.

It's a genre I still love despite how short lived it was.

On the other hand Edward James Olmos doesn't any different now than he did 30 years ago, he could easily do Gaff again.

Wasn't this based on a book? I Dream of Electric Sheep and as far as im aware it doesnt have a sequel. So im not expecting anything great from this.

I do not understand why they are doing a remake.
It is one of these films which was way ahead of its time and it is a timeles classic.
I saw it when it came out and as other people have said i was truly amazed by the film.
It is in my top five films
