Nice shot stevie!

What made you go for the 50mm vs the 35mm prime btw? I had the same decision and chose the 35 :D

thanks man

price mainly lol
I remember before ordering it I looked into it and after asking for some help on here, decided on the 50mm,

It was something to do with the DX sensor in my D80 being the same @50mm vs a FX sensor @75mm,

Im not sure now I think about it, I'm sure there was an educated decision in there somewhere haha

Yeah its the same deal on my D5100 as the 35mm works out at roughly 52.5mm. I've got the 50mm (85mm roughly) focal length still sorted with the kit lens, although I can't open the aperature past f5.3 at 50 though :(

I love the DOF on the 35mm lens I got though as it gives really nice bokeh with it, especially for the price.

yeah thats what I was after, the aperture was more important to me than focal legnth and f/1.8 was as low as I could go to for about 100 notes, for the price I think with the bokeh and shallow DOF its a bargin for a new lens.

I have a 18-135mm kit lens and a 70-300mm zoom lens for trackdays etc,
My kit lens apreture varies too according to focal length, Thats something I've been meaning to look into, @ 18mm the apreture goes down to f/3.5, but the more you zoom, the smaller it gets to f/5.6, something I cant understand haha

Which 70-300 have you got? I'm gonna pick up a Nikon AF-S DX one at some point, funds permitting!

Sorry to interrupt the jibba jabba ;)

Here's an old one that I just processed. I was bored tonight so I was picking random ones I thought had no chance.

Really nice image and setting. I can just make out the rays of light! Anyway of bringing them out more without destroying the detail in the buildings? My personal taste coming through here btw :D

Not sure mate lol was picked up as new for the bargin price of 62 quid :p

says Nikon AF Nikkor | 70-300mm 1:4-5.6G on the side?
I know the focus is driven by the camera as it doesnt have an internal focus motor

Found the matching HDR to the one above although I'm not as keen on this one...

Yeah stevie thats the lens I can't use to autofocus on my D5100 so have to get the vastly more expensive one :( lol

I think such a thread exists Clown! Might be worth a quick search mate

that was onething I was greatful for when I discovered the D80 has the internal focus motor, basicly means I can use pretty much all f-mount lenses,

I'm thinking of getting a D90 (basicly an updated version of the D80 with a newer sensor) which I believe has the same body power focus thingy lol

*feels like i'm spamming now, someone else post summet lol*

James J, that guitar picture, Is that cropped? or can you actually get that close within focus range?

If so how how much can you crop by before you loose too much quality?
I have loads of pics that I feel would benifit from being cropped but I darent incase It sacrifices too much quality lol
