Having owned my Cooper S for 3 and a half years and 30k Miles, i've come to the descision that I need something I can actually fit my weekly shop into now that i've moved out. I've had my S Valued around 4k leaving me another 2k to Save over the next few months..

So here is my Spec me:

- Around 6k to Spend (Could Possibly sretch to 7 for the right car)
- After a Saloon/Estate - No Hatches please
- Enough poke to keep me happy (But needs to be insurable at same or lower price as my S)
- Diesel Preferable but Petrol still OK (So long as Tax isn't stupid)

So Far on my list -

New Style Vauxhall Vectra CDTI SRi 1.9 (Easy for this sort of money)
I have also seen a Volvo S60 D5 I like.

So OCuk.. Motors.. go ahead and Spec me!

Is your Cooper S really only worth £4k? Thats a cracking car for the money if so - keep hold of it! And fold the seats down when shopping. Or buy less food. Surely you can get food shopping in the back of a Mini :p

What the?

Cooper S are selling for £4k now? where do I sign?

Quick auto trader check and hhmmm it would seem there are a few under the £4k mark now.

Erm

You could more than likely get a cracking Mondeo for £6k I'd imagine.

You can't fit your weekly shop in it? Do you cater for a small army?

Also, why buy a diesel for fewer than 10k miles a year?

No, it's because I keep my medical kit in my car (But why can't I take it out etc etc) well I can, but i'd just rather have enough room for everything.

The car is also used for a lot of responding to Emergency Calls which does increase my mileage enough, toing and froing to Birmingham and Staffordshire also does increase my fuel bill.

Hang on a sec, the OP reads like you are doing less than 10k a year to the supermarket and back. What is the car actually used for?

Driving Twice a week minimum to my parents ~80mi
To and From Work 3mi
First Responding ~Around 30mi
Travelling to and From Birmingham a few times a month for my 2nd Job ~40mi

Toyota Corolla T sport as a not so common alternative?

they also did a rather rare supercharged version that has 215bhp standard but they are quite rare(250 imported iirc)

LOL @ the corolla comments.

Word is that they are often overlooked in favour of the Civic type R's, people are noobs though, they don't realise the potential of the corolla.

I remember looking at Cooper S a few months ago (3+) and I swear they were more than £4k but maybe it's just me. Autotrader suggests they do seem pretty cheap nowdays!

So your sole reason for spending 6k is that you can't fit your shopping into your car now that you don't have someone else doing the shopping for you? Pretty bizarre reason to state, in fact I don't believe I've had "must hold shopping" at the top of my list.

I'd recommend that you keep the MINI. Just put your shopping on the passenger seat.

To be fair he did say that it was about being able to keep his medical stuff in the car and still having usable amounts of boot space. I must admit I have no idea what a first response person is or does or what they have to carry.

Hi, I just cannot believe that a cooper s would be worth less than half that of my mondeo of the same age, what's happened to the good residuals that mini's are meant to have?
