Trackmania 2

Nice track, done a 1:08.74.
Its no 1:06.05 though is it sunshine
I suspect you'll knock a second off that (as usual) by the time i get up  for now, im gloating!! ;)
Theres definitely room for improvement in each sector, ive had laps where ive been fairly poor through the first 2 corners and still managed to close the gap quite a lot, and thought it could go faster, i did a 6.95 which had a clumsy landing which got on 2 wheels and by fluke was pointing nicely into for the corner before the 2nd split, but scrubbed speed stopped it being as good as it could have, and shortly after managed to do a clean run.

Replay file if anyones interested: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/20670693/Replay.rar
Found a long winded way of doing replays, not sure if theres a better way...
load the track in the editor, and do a 'validate track' and set a time, afterwards you can hit 'save the replay' and then load that up in the replay section and race against your ghost car and save the laps in there too.

Fantastic track that, took me quite a while to see the resemblance to Croft, i get about as far as the first sector and then the corkscrews leave me puzzled, starts get get dizzy at that point and i lose the connection to the real layout. First sector is fantastic though, definitely the best part of the track, along with the last few corners of the 2nd sector IF you get them right. :D
Couple of annoying sections though IMO, the 2 landing areas for the first 2 jumps basically, the first if you dont line it up just right its very easy to land on the roofing, and the 2nd jump you've used opposing sides, red to white, white to red, and so theres 1/3 track on the right you cant use at the jump, and 1/3 on the left on landing which you cant touch (without crashing) so its a bit of a nuisance... but maybe they're intentional, it requires greater accuracy. Feels like bad track design when you dont know it (maybe not ideal for online) but when you do its fine.

Had a quick play with the track editor, simple enough to use, making something thats challenging and fun takes a bit of time, more than i was able to manage (was messing a little too much with the cliff-sides & tunnels, and the race track is definitely my kind of area anyway, bit more wiggle room for mistakes). Any plans to make some more TM2 interpretations of real tracks?

Thanks. Yeah I couldn't get it exact and I also had to add some elements of Trackmania in as it is a TM game. Plus Croft is mainly flat and boring so i've made it more interesting :D Sector 1 and a bit of 2 are majorly the same. And some of the jumps look like you clear them by a good distance but if you don't hit them at speed then you'll probably fall short. I didn't want to make the track too frustrating though so I've left it as is.

I'll probably have a go at Knockhill and Brands Hatch, whether they'll be in the usual format or actual laps yet I don't know :)

Bugger, is this out already?

I can't find it on Steam.

You can buy the game on http://www.maniaplanet.com/ and you get access to the beta :)

It's not out. We are playing the beta :D

Just buy and install as you would normally. The install is the beta version which turns into the full game on release. At the moment you can only play online and make tracks / paint cars... single player is off limits for now. Not that anyone plays single player :p

I've just bought this and I can't seem to access the single player stuff..anyone help? I entered the key sent to me via email..now for some reason I have 2 maniaplay accounts and neither will allow me to play O.o

You only get online access during the beta, when it hits the retail date the game gets upgraded to retail copy.

I loved the first one so so so much. Playing on the same server and getting to know all the regulars was great fun. Might have to pick this up
