Aha, the EV time explains it. I was wondering for a moment hehe!

I have an ND but it's not dark enough to allow for such long exposures even at narrow apertures and low ISOs.

Definately, need to head down your way next i think, I went to West Witterings a few months ago but tide was out and I didn't have the ND so came away with nothing /sad face.

Need some more recommendations

It's no sweat for a modern Nikon with Active D Lighting :P

Heck it's not really too much a task for a Canon either with a bit of highlight priority and RAW processing!

I don't use active D lighting, however I do expose to the left to save highlights...
But yeh, your right about these Sony chips, since having this D7k, I'v completely changed the way I approach exposure...

Just found this on my floor...

one big ass spider by jjohnson2012, on Flickr

Put a AA battery along side it to get a jist of the size of the thing.

Then went one step further, got the raynox DCR-250 macro adapter out...

Had to use the viewfinder and about 1cm away from it to get the focus and it kept twitching like it was gonna run!
