No worries, I was curious on your OS. As I said, it's a well known bug. On ejecting from USB Mode /media/internal/ doesn't want to remount properly so any new files are not detectable by webOS until a full remount. Anecdotal, but most accounts I've seen are W7 x64 as the OS, but that's probably for the obvious reason.

for the bargain we paid for it though it still must be a decent enough buy.

Any updates on the dicksons refund yet?
 
Gah what the frack! How are you supposed to transfer over 720p MKVs onto the device when it's formatted in FAT32?!
 
Ok I'm not sure if anyone else had has this problem but I'm having trouble trying to get audio over Bluetooth working, it seems that I can pair to my Bluetooth speakers but when I try and play some music I get nothing but silence? I'm running 3.02 fwiw...

I must admit I've only skim read this thread, I think ssh sounds like a beet solution for larger files, especially now that home brew stuff can be run.

I'm still setting mine up and trying to fix the niggles before trying to run home brew stuff...

Oh, no I'm running XP. When I unmount my touchpad from my desktop the touchpad still displays as if it's connected and I can't do anything on my it. I have to disconnect the USB and get the 'ouch....' message.
 
Feeling lazy and hoping someone can answer some questions that have probably already been answered :)

1) What video player will play 720p MKVs and it is it from preware or App catalog? i installed Touchplayer from preware, but as noted here it is broken and I don't want to faff about loading WebOS quick install and other complicated faff (which I don't think works from a mac anyway).

2) Do all the tweaks listed on the above link significantly speed things up, I have not really noticed a difference and I installed:

ad blocker - Installed this and I see no app to configure it and still see adverts in the browser!!
advanced reset options
faster card animations hyper version
increase touch sensitivity and smoothness 10
muffle system logging
remove dropped packet logging
unthrottle download manager

3) Best music player with full screen album art?

4) Best way to sync Mac iTunes to device. Tried HP Play and it is crap (and it somehow deleted some of my music tracks from my HDD!).

5) Can I disable the "ouch you didn't unmount disk" annoying message?

I've installed all of these. Also done the ##logs# change and also overclocked to 1.5Ghz.

ad blocker (or max block - one or the other NOT both)
remove tap ripple
Increase Touchpad Volume (lite)
advanced reset options
faster card animations hyper version
increase touch sensitivity and smoothness 10
muffle system logging
quiet powered messages
remove dropped packet logging
unset cfq io scheduler
unthrottle download manager
private browsing
EOM Overlord Monitoring


You should notice a difference as soon as you install 'muffle system logging'. You can notice a speed increase by tapping the app draw button fast and you'll notice it is instant and responds exactly to your taps and doesn't take a few seconds. I didn't do them in that order by the way.


I've just installed KalemSoft Media Player to play MKVs but as I said, you can't transfer anything bigger than 4GB onto it because it's formatted in FAT32. :confused:

Why does everyone want to play 720p files when the screen isn't even close to 720p...

Just seems a waste to me as a decent avi conversion is fine on a low resolution screen.

Because that takes a time to convert your MKVs into AVI files, when you can just copy paste your MKVs over.

Did your Adverts get blocked?

If anyone knows how to reset everything (software wise) I might do that and start from scratch.

You should just be able to use WebOS Doctor or just remove them all through Preware app.

Hmmm I used adblocker, did you use max block? Can you give me a webpage that was advert free?

Click here, there should be an advert inbetween the 'General Football Chat' forum and the 'General Discussion' forum.

I just tried in IE and there was then on my TouchPad and there wasn't. Just looks like how it does in Chrome with AdBlock installed.
 
I seem to have a faulty screen. On white backgrounds, I see a bright spot :| It's not noticeable on non-white backgrounds.

Besides that, I'm having fun tinkering :D

Cheers it does work! Also I noticed the snapiness in going into the Launcher now. I might install the other preware bits that you did as well.
