i assume you already have a SATA hard drive that you'll be using from your old PC (even if you dont ive saved you enough money to fit one in)

this is what i'd do with the money:

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI GeForce GTX 570 OC Twin FrozR III Power Edition 1280MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £259.99
1 x Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £169.98
1 x Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail £159.98
1 x Crucial RealSSD M4 128GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive £139.99
1 x Silverstone Raven 3 RV03B-W Full Tower Windowed Case - Black/Gold £119.99
1 x OCZ Z-Series 850W '80 Plus Gold' Power Supply £99.98
1 x Thermalright Silver Arrow CPU Cooler (Socket LGA1366/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA775/AM2/AM3) £50.99
1 x Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX1600C9D3X2K2/8GX) £39.98
1 x LiteOn IHAS124-19 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £16.99
Total : £1,074.38 (includes shipping : £13.75).

i would only go for the i7 2600k if you will be doing a lot of stuff that isnt gaming or general use (video editing/encoding, CAD/CAM work, major photoshop work, etc)

Thanks RJC.

How about the spec below? I wasn't sure about the PSU, Case, and CPU cooler combo as I havent built a rig on over 3 years. I picked the equivalent that I have on my current rig as they were very silent when I built my last rig. Are there any better options or are these still good for a silent as possible case.

Thanks

OK. Interesting changes. And thanks for all your comments.

Noted the CPU comment, I didnt realise you needed the HD3000 one. And the OCZ PSU and Cooler look like the better options too.

Corsair Obsidian 650D looks really nice. So its either that or the Antec for me. Need to read up on the noise levels.

Can I ask why the Asrock Z68? Is this becuase its more future proof? and also the Crucial SSD - I thought the Vertex 3 was the quickest and best?

Asrock Z68 Gen3 will support both PCIe 3.0 and Ivybridge, which is needed to use the full bandwidth of the PCIe 3.0 (which needs a PCIe 3.0 GPU)

it may be the quickest but its not the most reliable :)

There is no hiding the M4 wont match the Sandforce in benchmarks. But personally, if I wanted a real quick SSD, I'd rather deal with Corsair, or even Kingston if my top of the range SSD bricked it. Kingston iirc uses Intel Synchronous NAND, Corsair uses the same as the Vertex 3.

But at over £50 difference, I would just pick up an M4. IMO, SSD benchmarks are overrated for every day use. You saved 2 seconds loading Win 7 / Crysis. Big whoop.

As for the case, I've heard the 650D can have rattle problems, but the fan controller has been fixed. The Raven cases are also to consider. And the Lancool PC-K62, which is a lot more traditional.

For the money, Reaper's Build BTW, is pretty much what I'd chose as well. Although Gen3 motherboards seem OTT, you could get away with a Asus P8Z68-V as well if it's too expensive. But if I did a build right now for myself and budget not a concern, I would take the Asrock Gen3 anyway :)

The case is always debatable, but the Raven's are great cooling case, if a little odd inside. Favorite of them is the RV02W-EW (or EB for black). Same design as the Silverstone FT02.
