What you think about Israel?

The state of Israel must burn in Hellfire.

Jews are a nice bunch, but their evil little state is a blight on humanity and all that it stands for.

You are missing how they make distracting loud noises when the russian player is about to hit the balls and keep silent when the israilie is about to hit the ball.

Also all the booing and whisling while the russian is about to serve, all to distract her.

Really isralie girl should have had points deducted many times over.

I must be confused then. I have no real comprehension of tennis. They seem to be cheering for the Russian, rather than booing. Tbh I can't hear it clearly. I'll take your word for it.

I have no problem with either Jews or Israelis

But i do have a problem with Israel as a state - for the following reasons;

- Because of Israels treatment of its own Arabs (West Bank, Gaza Strip)
- Because of the hold that Israel has on the US and in particular US foreign policy
- Because of their attitude to new settlements on Arab land
- Because of the way they cant see how their hardline attitude to handling its neighbours is counterproductive
- And most of all - because their "claim" to the land is based on a 2000 year old book. Its just daft.

I dont deny their right to exist and understand they feel like they are surrounded by enemies and threats on all sides, but still - the way the Israeli state behaves is just wrong.

I have always thought the artificial creation of a Jewish state in an Arab heartland was a stupid idea.

Hmm, they might have though longer about such behaviour, but where else would you rehouse all the people?
It is the region they originally are from, well roughly anyway.

That list of oppression was extensive, good grief, its a bit long isn't it.

i agree - what did they think would happen!

the creation of a new state by forcibly taking the land off other people was a big mistake, and one that won't be forgotten by every surrounding country.

Israelis are certainly acting like nazis towards palestinian population.

When I say israelis, I don't mean everyone but rather the extremist settlers, zionists with racist mindsets and the likes. No doubt many of these elements exist within israeli politics, media and military with an uncompromising mindset. If they could, they would get rid of whole palestinian population.

Personally I believe the middle eastern jews (mizrahis) are the native inhabitants of the middle east and they have lived in that region for centuries with their arab neighbours and thus share many cultural similarities and have more in common with each other than the european jews (ashkenazis).

Although I am no expert in anthropology but would like to know how strong is the connection between the middle east and ashkenazi jews (russians, polish, german jews etc).

Zionism seems to be more of a european jews phenomena.

Palestinians must have a state of their own and both israelis and palestinians have no choice but to be tolerant neighbours and to trade with each other for survival.

Its close to your bedtime, child.

Agreed, 100 mega ton would be better ;)

Regular Jews are nice people, however, colonial Jews are not. Their policy is to occupy high ground and annex land by displacing any indigenous populous. When the indigenous fight back, they are called terrorists, go figure

Many jews also oppose Israel, so you also need to distinguish between zionists and jews.

Exactly. The 'European' jews have reclaimed a land that they never inhabited in the first place, how utterly bizarre...

Indeed.

Even within israeli society, there is conflict between liberal jews and orthodox/conservative jews.

It would also seem that many young liberal israelis particularly those living in tel aviv don't share the same ideals as those conservatives living in jerusalem and often clashes occur between two groups.

I think that after the Holocaust the Jews deserve a country of their own where they are safe.

As to whether it should be in the middle east or at the expense of another ethnic group I'm not so sure.

Pity Israel couldn't be modelled on something along the lines of Czechoslovakia.

We should have created a jewish state in the outback of Australia or some American desert. Would have been better for everyone all round.

There was a plan to create a Jewish State in a region the took in parts of Uganda and Kenya, it would have given the Jews a homeland as well as pumping massive amounts of much needed money into Africa. There were also other options including an region in Russia called Oblast, although that was in answer to certain issues Stalin had with Judaism.

There were others as well, but the Zionist were never going to agree to anything other than Palestine so they eventually self declared in 1948.

I don't know much about the place bar what I've read in a couple of books, reading one at the moment that is all about the 'secret history of mossad' and it's pretty good reading.

I always think of the USS Liberty incident though after reading Body of Secrets.

Quite a harrowing account of it in the book.

It could never ever have happened anywhere except for Jerusalem, as the jewish people will never accept anyone claiming to be their messiah if the jewish people are located in the middle of Africa or Russia or anywhere else. It had to be Jerusalem hence why the Europeans have had this age long obsession with the Holy Land.
