Well, I've become gradually more and more fed up of how little payload space my ZS has. Coupled with coming into some money recently, I bought this!

It's a 2003 Rover 75 Estate. It's done 170,000 miles and cost me £1600 as it's pretty high-spec for one of these. As it has lots of work recently done, I was happy to pay this.

Details:

- 2.0L BMW M47R diesel engine, 129BHP and 220lb/ft torque
- Full dual zone climate control with solar sensor
- All electric windows, mirrors etc
- Full leather seats, electrically adjustable and heated
- Crap BMW stereo, will be replaced in due course. :p
- Double electric towbar
- Follow Me Home headlights (what a brilliant idea!)
- Estate with 2x hidden compartments, gas strut assistance for lifting false floor and rear seats fold to make a perfectly flat loadspace

Work recently done:
- Full clutch kit inc concentric slave cylinder, 3 weeks ago. DMF checked and OK. £500
- Front and rear fuel pumps replaced a year ago. £350
- Rear springs replaced. £150
- Front brake discs and pads replaced. £150
- Injectors rebuilt 6 months ago. £400

Got it with nearly a year's MOT included. Also had a full tank of fuel. :p

Considering it was just what I was after, I'm very happy with it. It'll do the job perfectly well, and return reasonable economy while doing so.

It's a little 'floaty', so it's going to be lowered 35mm and the 15" rims are going to be swapped for the Rover 17" OEM alloys that came with some of the other 75s. That should help the ride firm up a little.

Some more pics:

Why not leave the suspension how it was designed, if it's a "familymobile" for long distance stuff?

Change the wheels though :p

Not bad car for the money really. Rover owners always seem to have two Rovers for some reason :)

A lot of people have fitted the 35mm kit, and say it improves it quite a lot, but not quite to 'ZT hardness'. I will of course drive another with the kit first.

But yeah, the 15" alloys are pretty tiny... :o

My first one of these was lowered about 35mm, the under-tray hit absolutely everything. Good to see it has all the common issues addressed, just make sure you keep the plenum under the windscreen free of leaves so the ECU doesn't take a swim!

Will bear that in mind. And funny you should mention the ECU swimming, my friend also did earlier. We checked under the scuttle panel and there was a good inch of water in there! Lots of stabbing with a length of threaded bar later, all fixed. :p

What are follow me home lights?

The headlights have a timer, so when the engine is turned off and headlights deactivated they actually stay on for about 30 seconds. Handy as the car is parked on the drive, so light the way to the door.

you are actually physically unable to buy anything other than a rover aren't you LOL.

Do you suffer migraines when you look at anything jap in auto trader or something ? :p

Yeah, I get all shakey when looking at anything else. :p

In all seriousness, I did have a nosey for a TDDI Mondeo Estate but they were all either quite old, poverty spec or stupidly overpriced. Plus I think all of them didn't have a mention of the DMF being changed, which is a common thing with them.

Plus, having just changed a DMF and clutch on a Mondeo TDDI, am I **** doing that again. Ever. :D

No electric rear blind? You brought a Rover 75 without the electric rear blind?

Get out...

Joking aside fab value for Money. Had a connie se dursal for a while, aside from being asthmatic a very nice car to drive for the money! Very jelous of the wood on the steering wheel! Good purchase fella.

Cheers guys.

Just been on a 20 mile run, and it's so silky smooth. Seems BMW did actually put some effort into the M47 compared to the L series of the ZS.

Genuinely impressed, still. :)

170k miles though

Steering wheel looks utterly fubar too, so probably not quite drifted up and down the motorway all it's life!
